Pucquio, or Pukyu, is Quechua for fountain or spring water. An unusual if most appropriate name for the kitchen in this cozy little place that couldn't be in a better location, a bit off the upper Rockridge drag, a wonderful culinary addition to the neighborhood, and catering to a clientele with a hunch for great food and pockets deep enough... Not only is the cebiche excellent (very fresh fish from local suppliers) it is not drenched in lime juice as in so many other places, but there is a variety of preparations that give insight into the talents of the chef. I enjoy stoping by and sitting at the counter to watch Carlos and his assistant chef They work in a small kitchen where everything is so organized it is like watching... More

A small space on College Ave between BART and Broadway, which used to be the Guest Chef (a rather strange concept that didn't work out). Anyway, it's Peruvian food: cebiches, some cold plates (some of them sebiche-like), and some hot plates. It's all excellent. A good variety of sebiches - fish-of-the-day to mixed shellfish. The Jalea "frito misto" was also... More
