Good food in a really fun environment.

This place looks like your grandma's parlor, in the best of ways. The staff is friendly and the food is good. A good date spot or for a people-watching lunch.

This is a nice casual bar restaurant in Oakland Uptown. The music was good and the bar was good. I would rank the food as good but not outstanding. The portions are large. We had the very tasty artichoke dip as an appetizer and there was easily enough for four. For Oakland, this was a reasonably priced restaurant.

The space itself will capture your attention! The food will keep you attentive. There is something to look at everywhere including a small stage where a piano player is often perched. The restrooms are even fun with a large communal sink that comes with instructions! You have the option of ordering three side dishes for an entree for $13. The... More

...eighteen minutes after sitting at my table, I still did not have a beverage. The bar/wait person was too busy taking someone by the hand, answering questions of someone who arrived after me, and delivering drinks to the next table who also arrived after me. I had looked forward to this place, as it was a referral by another foodie... More

Last Friday evening at 6:30 PM three of us were ushered into a packed Loring located near Broadway on Grand> Thank goodness we had reservations and the front four top had been requested as there was not a single seat left in the house. We had to squeeze by other tables on the side to get to our front four... More

I've been here a few times for lunch with work friends, the hubby, and girlfriends. Have always been happy with our orders. The artichoke dip ramekin is much larger than expected. Comes with a lot of buttered, toasted bread. You'll probably need more becuase you might just eat the entire dish. It's addictive. The Chicken Vivek is a nice, albeit... More

I love the ambience of this place and we came here again to listen to some wonderful Brazilian music and the place was jumpin! However, I think the wait staff was overwhelmed as the owner, Jason had to help get our orders started. It seemed like there was only one waitress and a bartender. So the service and kitchen was... I have been wanting to revisit Loring Cafe because it has such a romantic, relaxing atmosphere especially at night as I love the furniture, the candles, the ambience and I had a great excuse because Silvio Correia was performing there last night! Hopefully he will be performing there every Thursday from 7-9 pm! With music and ambience, the food has... More

Friends raved. It is well located, about a block from the Paramount Theater - perfect location for before or after theater fare. The decor is warm and welcoming, makes you feel like you are in someone's country cabin and you look for the fireplace. The bathroom - outrageous and fun! The wait staff, friendly, helpful, smiling. Regretfully the food does... More

Five of us went for a '3-martini-lunch"...and although they don't serve hard liquor we were perfectly happy with beer and wine! Started with the artichoke "ramekin" but it was a small casserole... And we didn't need 2 between us...yummy gooey cheesy concoction to slather on buttered toast (or directly on your hips!) soooo good. We also had the mussels which... More
