The East Bay area is famous for it's Ethiopian restaurants and with good reason. My wife has lived in the Bay area for many years and has sampled lots of different options, this is her favorite. I've been to a few Ethiopian places myself, around the bay area and elsewhere and I'm inclined to agree. The food is fresh and... More

I came here in March with my wife for dinner. We've eaten at a few other Ethiopian places in Oakland, and this place was decent, but not quite the best. For starters, they charge $2 extra for their gluten-free injera (the other places we've been to do NOT). The service was a little slow, but when the food arrived, it... More

Went to this wonderful restaurant in a recent visit to Oakland. We were seated immediately upon entering the restaurant (we did not have a reservation). Our server was attentive. The menu had such an interesting selection, it was hard to choose. When the food arrived, it was hot, beautifully presented and delicious. The flavors were fresh and unique. I was... More

Ever since my niece went to Berkeley in mid-2000, we've been making pilgrimages to this humble spot that serves as a veneer for the flavor bombs that wait inside! Even though my husband is a carnivoire, he goes with the veggie sampler (be sure to add the mushroom tibs). Okay, it's true, Ethiopian food is my favorite--I'm writing this review... More

Cafe Colucci has the best vegetarian Ethiopian food I have ever had. You MUST try the eggplant tibs and the Mitten Shoro (as the menu reads "you will be hooked for life"). The meat dishes are also quite good, and the Ethiopian beer (both dark and light) is a treat. My only complaints are that sometimes there is a bit... More

I always eat at Cafe Colucci everytime I visit the East Bay. It is a fun experience where you get to eat with your fingers and enjoy the authentic flavors of Ethiopia. The food is amazing!

We got a meat sampler and a veggie sampler. Wow. Lots of food, fantastic flavors, cool vibe. Definitely would return.

I found this place to be very good and truly a pleasure to visit. Warm atmosphere and accommodating servers. I will say that sitting by the bathroom does give you a precarious odor, but it was actually that of the air fresheners that surround the restroom and not odors of peoples "Gifts" to the restroom. As I entered the restroom... More

Two colleagues and I went to Cafe Colucci for a late dinner. It was my first experience with Ethiopian food; one of my colleagues is a regular at the cafe. The place was packed with a young to middle-aged crowd, and was very lively, but the noise level was not too loud for conversation. We ordered a platter to share... More

Eating food with your hands is a unique experience by itself, and when the food happens to be delicious, exotic and tasty, it just makes it better. Nothing was extremely spicy so we didn't have trouble trying out the meat and vegetarian samplers. Very good food, quaint, perfect size, good service, just great!
