Some friends recommended this place and we were not disappointed!! I had the fish taco... It's huge and delicious. My husband had a chicken burrito and quickly devoured it. We also ended up ordering 3 crispy shrimp tacos... Heaven!! The salsa bar had lots of options... Don't miss the pineapple salsa. We'll definitely go back next time we're in Oakland.... More

We were on our way to San Francisco for an event. Instead of having a long wait and walk to a restaurant before the theatre, we decided to hop off/on at Rockridge station and walk across the street to Cactus. The price and food are pretty authentic.

I love (what we call) Mexican food and Cactus uses quality ingredients without gourmet prices. You can really mix it up here, lots of choices available to design how you want your food, and the self-service bar offers additions that are varied and delicious too including a cabbage 'salad' and fresh or roasted jalapeños. Sometimes the line is out the... More

Great place for a reasonably-priced lunch. The house salad is fresh, and you can order it with meat and/or avocados. The dressing is citrusy (light and good), but you can add some of the salsas from the condiment bar. The serve-yourself approach works when you are pressed for time. The tacos are also quite good. My recent salad with extras... More

Castus' crispy tacos are to die for. We only get to eat here when visiting our family. We really should visit more often. They have lots of choices but I always get the same thing. Prices are super for the Bay Area too

One of the best places to get a reasonably priced meal fast but freshly made. I always order the house salad with citrus vinaigrette and some kind of chicken. Here's an insider tip: the menu says you can order it with grilled chicken, which is very good, but you can also order it with any meat filling they serve. I... More

Homemade hard shell tacos, overflowing with fresh, delicious fillings. Favorites are the shrimp tacos and grilled chicken tacos. Salsa bar has a lot of variety. Prices are reasonable and the quality is consistently great. Highly recommend.

We have had several good meals here in the past -- quick, inexpensive, and tasty. But this latest one was a disappointment. My wife's taco meat was cold, like it had just come out of the refrigerator. And I ordered the daily special, was was just ok. The salsa bar is nice.

Cactus' food is always deliciously fresh and inexpensive. It's probably the best deal on College Avenue for really good food at a really good price. It's very casual - not at all fancy. But the food is great. The fresh salsas are all great. I love the empanadillas. And the fish tacos. And the tostadas. And the burritos. And the... More
