We've been at A Cote twice, and do admire their food. Clearly this place is a local favorite - we had an early dinner, and when we left, we noticed that the group of people waiting to be seated was steadily increasing. At any rate, we were four people, and we always share dishes when we're at A Cote, and... More

So disappointed.. Service was poor. After ordering a martini, waitress told me that Acote didn't make them that way. What the hell? Mussels were awful. Flatbread was tasteless. Menu was limited. I have been going to Acote for years, but never again. Avoid this place, over priced, over rated.

Sort of romantic, high energy, romantic, pretty good food. Can sit at bar and eat. Good selection of gin. Small-medium plate menu.

In Oakland's Rockridge neighborhood, A Cote's menu is sort of tapas style. It's a decent sized list of small plates that could be classed as Nouvelle Californian, and it changes at least seasonally. We've gone with other people to share a range of dishes and never been disappointed. The menu leans toward seafood and vegetables, but not exclusively. The wait... More

A Cote is a great restaurant in the Rockridge neighborhood. It is not the best one there but close. Some dishes are fabulous while others leave a bit to be desired. Overall though I give it a great rating and think it is a fabulous place to spend a romantic evening.

We were planning to meet up with our nephew at this Rockridge area restaurant for dinner. When he unexpectedly called to cancel, we decided to go ahead with our plans and we were sure glad we did. Had a reservation for three on a Wednesday night, arrived about 20 minutes early and the restaurant gladly seated us early at our... More

I don't personally believe that soft lighting gives automatically "atmosphere" in a restaurant...Especially if you look around and you realized that you are basically under a brown tent! Having said that... I don't judge the restaurants from their "cover"... Let's talk about Food... Well... Unfortunately was average as the tent! We chose our dinner from the special Menu of the... THis is a cosy, atmospheric restaurant, but beyond their special (Mussels), I would want a little more taste to their main dishes for the cost and rating on this restaurant. Great menu but once on the table a little bit of a letdown.

We generally avoid going out on New Year's Eve. Many places inflate their menus and their prices and cram diners in like cattle. We didn't feel that way at A Cote. The atmosphere was subtly festive -- servers in cocktail attire and some balloons but it had its usual welcoming feel. The menu had some items that were pricier than... More

Lots of interesting wines from unexpected places. Let your server suggest something you haven't tried before. The flat bread is awesome!
