Excellent kitchen but noisy

Excellent food and service but loud. It's a small space to begin with and add a background of unpleasant music and all conversation is out. Not sure why it's becoming the norm these days. We are avoiding particular restaurants for just this reason.

A huge build up, a terrible disappointment. Plates far too small prices far too high. and the food was just average, nothing special. At least the wait staff was very friendly. Had the Spinach salad, the Paella and stuffed peppers and finally the cheese plate. We also ordered a wine flight. I've purchased better wines (these weren't awful, just not that... More

Spinach salad, excellent, far better than any spinach salad I have ever had due to the dressing and the careful selection of leaves. Entree of prosciutto wrapped salmon good although the root vegetable melange served with it was not appealing and tasted like an overlooked stew of vegetables. Dessert of ricotta cheese puffs was outstanding. Service was very good.

I took a friend here for her birthday. Neither of us had been for a while, and I was glad we chose this spot. I don't eat red meat or seafood, and fortunately we had lots of options among the tapas. We shared the Mixed Chicories Salad--a delectable combination of fuyu persimmon and hazelnuts with the greens, dressed sparingly with... More

What's not to like with a tapas style restaurant. If you don't like an item order something else. The mussels are incredible and almost always on the menu. The cheese course changes frequently and the pom frites are great. Most other items change frequently and are seasonal and fresh. The wine list is a bit eclectic and may be difficult... More

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Oakland...the drinks and food are always consistently good! The service has never dissappointed! I love that it's tapas! It's fn to go with friends and share a lot of the menu options!

It should have been an enjoyable dining experiences; the food was very good, the setting was cozy and comfortable and we had high hopes. But there was something amiss, something bleak about the place and it was reflected in faces of the staff. They acted if they knew their days were numbered and no matter how hard they tried, all... Went A Cote during Oakland restaurant week and was thrilled to have this wonderful experience. I found the food to be superb. For starters, I had the parsnip soup with chive oil, excellent.. Main course I had the seared scallops with beet risotto, golden beets and tangerine Buerre Blanc. I wish I could have had more, it was so delicious,... More

I absolutely love this restaurant. I always take out-of-towners there and the fresh/ local foods never disappoint. The foreign beers and wines are excellent. I usually tell the server that I have Celiacs disease and ask the chef to prepare me whatever is fresh and good that night, and we have a ball sharing the small plates. A must!

The decor, lighting and setting is romantic and warm. I've been here several times for both wine/appetizers as well as dinner. The food is delicious, innovative Mediterranean cuisine. Personally I felt the suggestion for 4 plates is too much and even though they are small plates we did not come close to finishing them though that varies upon the person.... More
