Excellent kitchen but noisy

Excellent food and service but loud. It's a small space to begin with and add a background of unpleasant music and all conversation is out. Not sure why it's becoming the norm these days. We are avoiding particular restaurants for just this reason.

A Cote to me is a a Tapas restaurant with French Cuisine rather than Spanish. We had a nice selection for 6 people with everyone choosing their favorite dishes. Everything was excellent and the servers were very attentive. We all had plenty to eat, including some desserts, and the bill, including wine for three, was about $50 a piece. It... More

My dinner at A Cote was a great experience, with delicious food brought hot from the kitchen and attentive but not intrusive service. Best values were coriander crusted tuna and the mussels with pernod. The wine list features lots of choices, all selected to match A Cote's European style cuisine. I will definitely return.

Sadly, this restaurant was a disappointment in every way. The outside part of the restaurant was quite full, bustling and very noisy. It would be difficult to have a conversation. The night we were there was quite cold, but the rear courtyard has heaters set up. While there were cold spots and warm spots, overall it was pretty comfortable. And... More

For many years it was a treat to go to A Cote, and we could count on both really good food and good service. Sadly, something has changed. There seemed to be chaos with service; it wasn't clear who was bringing water, taking orders or bringing food so we sat for much longer than in the past before someone brought... More

A huge build up, a terrible disappointment. Plates far too small prices far too high. and the food was just average, nothing special. At least the wait staff was very friendly. Had the Spinach salad, the Paella and stuffed peppers and finally the cheese plate. We also ordered a wine flight. I've purchased better wines (these weren't awful, just not that... More

Spinach salad, excellent, far better than any spinach salad I have ever had due to the dressing and the careful selection of leaves. Entree of prosciutto wrapped salmon good although the root vegetable melange served with it was not appealing and tasted like an overlooked stew of vegetables. Dessert of ricotta cheese puffs was outstanding. Service was very good.

I took a friend here for her birthday. Neither of us had been for a while, and I was glad we chose this spot. I don't eat red meat or seafood, and fortunately we had lots of options among the tapas. We shared the Mixed Chicories Salad--a delectable combination of fuyu persimmon and hazelnuts with the greens, dressed sparingly with... More

What's not to like with a tapas style restaurant. If you don't like an item order something else. The mussels are incredible and almost always on the menu. The cheese course changes frequently and the pom frites are great. Most other items change frequently and are seasonal and fresh. The wine list is a bit eclectic and may be difficult... More

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Oakland...the drinks and food are always consistently good! The service has never dissappointed! I love that it's tapas! It's fn to go with friends and share a lot of the menu options!
