Dropped by for cocktails and had a great experience. Staff was friendly and the place had a great vibe. Extensive cocktail menu with a wonderful selection.

We went on a Tuesday. We were able to get reservations on the same day. Cocktails were smallish size but very very good. Wine was nice and pleasant (Cab Franc) We tried 3 kinds of cocktails: Maple Old Fashioned & Ghost Story & Outer Boroughs. All very different and delicious ($10 each) We started with: 1. Fried Lotus Root Fritter... More

This '50s style diner was listed in the 100 Bay Area restaurants and we were in the area, so booked. However, when we arrived for midweek lunch it was almost empty and stayed so. $19 for a bento box with no miso soup and a very small bowl of good quality rice. The Tonkatsu (pork cutlet) was nicely prepared but... More

Noisy, noisy, noisy, but wonderful food. Delicious fusion of American and Asian in every dish we tried. I would go back, but not for an evening of catching up with friends... perhaps lunch would be quieter.

If there’s a reason for people to cross the Bay Bridge from San Francisco, Hopscotch will be it. If you are going to a concert / show at Fox Theater or Paramount Theatre and want to make it an extra memorable evening in the walking distance, this will be it. If you love some excellent authentic southern food that’s delicate... More

Went here, food was o-k. I had the fritters to start which was basically all fried stuff not many actual mushrooms. The starter salad option was nice. The scallops were great. Service was slow and not the friendliest.

Hopscotch is without a doubt the best restaurant in Oakland. I have had dinner there at least five times and lunch several times. Every time we have out of town guests, we take them there. My favorite dish is the fried chicken. I always get at least one order of duck fat fries (depends on the number at the table)... More

Hopscotch provides food that could be described as Asian fusion. It is a small venue (about 40 seats) but the food is outstanding.

Went to this very small and cutely intimate (but casual) restaurant. The drinks were spectacular, We started with potato chips fried in duck fat (yum), and a yonsei oyster (with sea urchin, salmon roe and citrus) and continued with their buttermilk fried chicken. We brought a bottle of wine to share, corkage was $20. Everyone with me had exceptional meals,... More

Had lunch here on a recent visit and enjoyed it very much. Cocktails were fun and a treat since we don't usually drink at lunch. Among the four of us, we had fish, BLT and pork sandwich. No one went home unhappy - everything was fresh and imaginative. It is a small restaurant with friendly staff. In the afternoon it... More
