Funky Downtown Oakland Cafe

The food is good and plenty of it. We both had a cheeseburger and it was very good and cooked to order. They say the name came from a bus driver who used to drive a lot of folks to the sporting events and concerts in the Oakland area. It has indoor and outdoor seating and the wait staff was... read more

So I got a chicken sandwich with goat cheese and sautéed spinach. The bread was really good. I got the soup of the day with it, which was supposed to be a white bean soup, but was mostly just vegetables. My daughter liked it, but I thought it was a little bland. Hubby got a catfish sandwich, which he said... More

A new chapter to an old favorite in Emeryville. Right next door to the Fox Oakland Theater and the high school for performing arts. Great burgers and salads.

Visited this one before the Emeryville location. Ended up here 3 times in 1 month! First was breakfast visit and I had the veggie sausage scramble with sourdough toast, it was amazing! Next visit was dinner we all had burgers again perfect, well cooked, well seasoned and great sides. Last was just a pop in for a beer before seeing... More

Went with the family and was not disappointed. Varied menu had something for everyone and the quality of the food is excellent. Fast service makes this a good stop if you are planning to catch a show at the nearby Paramount theater. The hipster inspired decor is amusing without making you feel like you stepped in a Bubba Gump's or... More

Good, wholesome food, open early in the morning and late at night. Great breakfasts. Lots of seating. Good to go with kids. No bar.

If you are in Oakland, you should go to Rudy's Can't Fail Café. Their breakfast-time muffins and rolls are a solid A+. The blueberry muffin is refined. Their lunch food ranges from good to excellent. For excellent, select the tuna melt. The staff are very fun, funky, open, trendy - exactly the right statement for Oakland and how it is... More

We had a great time at "Rudy's". We arrived during "Happy Hour", and were seated promptly. We ordered the "BLAT" (Bacon, Lettuce, Avocado & Tomato Sandwich), and it was Really Good. If you leave here hungry, it is your own fault. We also sampled the "House Ale", and it was Great. I recommend that if you are visiting the "Fox... More

50's style restaurant, but with healthy choices and Pete's coffee. Great selection for breakfast and lunch. Fast and good service. Normal prices...
