nice outdoor seating, fresh menu

Setting: Right on College. Parking could be a challenge depending on hours. Nice outdoor patio right on the street with heaters for cold days. Nice warm inside decor. Food: Seems to follow same principles as many Berkeley restaurants these days. Fresh and local - therefore smaller menu. Bread... read more

Visit every time I'm in Oakland, and am never disappointed. Really good food combined with relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff make this is wonderful place to meet and eat. Drink, too.

I was excited to try this trendy place in the Rockridge district of Oakland. The menu looked interesting and fun - pricey (even $3 for bread), so we were ready to be 'wowed'. We were seated near the kitchen window with a great view of the kitchen activity. Normally that would be fun. However, shortly after we got there, I... More

Opting out of gridlock evening homebound traffic, my business partner and I decided to find someplace for dinner before heading home. We started driving south on College Ave in Oakland and this little place caught our eye -- little white lights, open patio, spacious bar area and dining room with lots of windows. It was only about 6 p.m. so... More

This was a second visit to Toast, this time for dinner with a friend. The interior was refreshingly quiet; service was informative and attentive. My order was the sole with potatoes, while my friend ordered the pork chop. I could not have been happier with the fish - fresh, with a light sauce, and the potatoes were so delicious that... More

We've been to toast close to half a dozen times, and have never been disappointed. Sunny lunch with small bites and wine, mid-afternoon meatball olives and champagne, frothy cocktails and nuts at dusk or sumptuous dinner have not disappointed.

There are not many restaurants in the East Bay where you can sit outside on a sunny afternoon. Toast has a very charming patio and some good food to nimble. I don't think the food is that great but for lunch is nice, salads, sandwiches... But... We get there at 11.50 am, the patio is set up for lunch, people... More

I think Tripadvisor has the full name of Toast wrong. Perhaps at one point it was "Toast Wine Lounge," which indicates its original version as primarily a wine/tapas place. But today it goes by a more accurate name that reflects it being a full-fledged restaurant: "Toast Kitchen + Bar." In any event...went with my wife and two friends on Saturday... More

I heard from others in our group that this was good, so we decided to check out. Both of us had the chicken (absolutely wonderful--better than what I have ever made) with a autumn slaw. We also split a salad, and had a wine flight of 3 reds for $15 each. I wish we had room for dessert! The service... More
