My husband and I really enjoyed our meal here. The staff were very friendly, and attentive. The service slowed a bit when the restaurant was completely full, but that wasn't very long. We went here on a Tuesday night, and the restaruant was full - that says something. The food was delicious. The Sicilian olives were exactly like the ones... More

Surprisingly average. They may have changed their chef! Starters where not great - meatballs deep fried, and the cheese was nothing special. Wine recommendations at the bar were not great. Main course was good. I always saw this as the best place to eat in oakland - no more!

One of the best Italian restaurants in the east bay! I can't go here without ordering the MALFATTI. They always make you comfortable and at home here. Wine selection is good and affordable.

Recently we saw the Check Please Bay Area segment on Bellanico and it made my mouth water! We brought some friends from Seattle here on a Wednesday evening and had a very memorable time. I'm pleased to report that Bellanico is even better today than I remember from 5 years ago. We all ordered from the sample menu: excellent choices... More

This Oakland partner of San Francisco's Aperto is one of my favorites. It's small, as in intimate, with a tiny kitchen, a bar and maybe tables for thirty patrons. The food is all about Italy and great ingredients. They offer a four course wine pairing (All Italian) menu that is a bargain at $34.00. The chard Mallfacci, dumplings in a... More

We have eaten here many times and the $34 menu is a particularly really good deal. With the 2 of us, we shared more than8 items. The food is always very good to wonderful. Our problem continues to be around service and environment. They always over-book making a wait inevitable, the tables in the back are dark and stuffy. It... More

A local neighborhood California style restaurant where the prices are reasonable but still use all the freshest California ingredients. There is always a 4 course set price dinner for around. $30. I love their cauliflower fritters and their pasta and grain dishes

We ordered the four course tasting menu with wine parings. Everything was good, but the wine parings (all Italian) were excellent and the goat cheese cake was outstanding. Service was exceptional. Beware of the neighborhood parking shortage. I wouldn't dine here if rain is forecast. Be prepared to park many blocks away.

Named for 2 of the owner's daughters this eatery is a charming place right next to my vet's, the Cheshire Cat. I can stop here while Banjolina is getting helpful care at the Cheshire Cat and refresh myself with reasonably priced, delicious Italian/American/Mediterrean fare. The care in the cooking and serving shows and almost never fails to delight my taste... More

First, we looked at the menu, we almost left, it was sooo intimidating. We are not used to fancy dining. The nice man near the door convinced us that its not as intimidating as it looks, he explained what the items on the menu are to us and we decided to try it out, just because we had a nightmare...
