Great food--amazing beer!

We had read about this little gemstone, and grabbed a beer and shared some food items (some sort of gourmet grilled cheese, and a kale salad) that were delicious. We'll definitely return the next time we're in Oakland.

Variety of delicious beers, served by knowledgeable staff. Served with perfect heads and the right temperature. Atmosphere is local, not stuffy and we felt we fit right in being from out of town. Will go there again!

This bar came up when I was looking on google maps at our hotel and the surrounding area. I took a look at their website, their food menu is limited more nibbles and light fare than a full meal. Their beer selection was excellent, lots of interesting different styles. They have outdoor space but we didn't actually sit there. The... More

If you don't know much about beer, but you know what you like, this is the place for you. I try to sample local beers whenever I can, but usually end up ordering things I don't enjoy. When a friend made it a point to take me here, I told the barkeep what brands I liked and asked what he... More

my fiancée and I stopped in at noon after a long flight to Oakland. We visited the Trappist several years ago and it remains a quality stop with a wide selection of Belgian and local beers. We ordered charcuterie and cheese plates which were good along with fresh baked bread rolls, sort of a baguette twisted into dinner roll-sized pieces.... More

Love The Trappist!! What a great place for amazing beer! They have a Coffee IPA that is out of this world! I could spend all day here trying the numerous variations of beer!

Quite disappointing. First time here after hearing so much about the bar. Busy and very slow service. Expensive (overpriced to be honest) - many local and unexceptional CA beers selling for $12+ per pint and, surprisingly, a limited selection of Belgian beers. At least that is how I translate $7 for 250cl. The IPA advertised at $7 per pint but... More

We tried The Trappist on a recent visit to Oakland with a friend who is a beer enthusiast. He was in heaven with the assortment of beers avaialble. The rest of us were left picking for something suitable - for example the wine served is with a choice between red or white and from a box. They do not serve... More

We visited The Trappist last night as a party of four, a busy Friday night when most locations in Downtown Oakland were full to capacity. We managed to grab the last available table and settled in for a couple of hours of Belgian and local beers and a bit of food. My wife and I just completed a six month... More

At Trappist Provisions, they like beer too, so go and geek out with the knowledgeable staff. They have options to-go, and a great selection you can enjoy at the place. It's very small, so try stopping in at odd hours.
