Every trip to Oakland must include partaking of some delicious Belgian beer at the Trappist. Probably not for the casual "Coors Light" crowd.. anyone who appreciates beer will adore this bar. I leave happy every time.
If you like top quality beer especially Belgian Styles this is THE place to stop. Reasonably priced for w wonderful experience and way better that average brew.
Amazing beer selection. Knowledgable down-to-earth bartenders. Well cared-for decor. They specialize in Belgian & Scandanavian beer, but also have a well-curated selection of beers from other locales (Italy, New Zeland, Japan). They care about their beer and believe in making the very best available.
With Beer Revolution, Pacific Coast Brewery, and the Trappist, one could probably consider Jack London/ Old Oakland to be a beer drinkers Oasis. The Trappist is a great place to have a pint in a relaxed, chill atmosphere.
This is an exception craft beer bar. Firstly, it's got a really cool vibe and well decorated in terms of beer joints. I can't believe they ran out two different kinds of beer the night we were there. Staff was very nice, the beer is normally priced overall okay experience
Went with a big group of friends and were welcomed warmly.
The beer selection was awesome and had plenty of choices.
They were very helpful with all our random request including plain bread for the ladies.
Would come back any day of the week for a beer.

This is a great place to get good beer. But, if you go in the afternoon after work, expect to stand and speak over the crowd. The food was a bit better than most pubs - more selection than just pub food. Lots of people!! and limited seating. A happening place for couples, groups, co-workers.
If you are looking for a classy but casual place to have a drink, you should definitely check the Trappist out. They have a huge selection of beer on tap, and the staff are always quick to help with recommendations. Try a tasing flight you can pick whatever beer you want in it to find what you like best!
Great selection of beers and perfect atmosphere. Barista work was perfect. Nice place to have beer and talk with friends.
