Every trip to Oakland we get to Marzanos. My wife is part Italian and the meatballs are exactly how her mother cooked. I just like food. Over many visits, never failed. Wife had pappardelle pasta with artichokes peas and parsley. It was marvelous. I had a pepperoni pizza and irish whiskey. Great combination. There were three others with us and... More

"Well, why go to a fine restaurant, when you can just stick something in the microwave?" - Seinfeld Places like this... that's why. 5:45 on a weekday, I called ahead, "just swing over now, no problem". Cocktails, SOLID, took awhile but it was bustling and with so many ingredients in their signature cocktails it's artistry meets chemistry! I ended up... More

Not as famous as some other places that feature wood-burning ovens, but what it lacks in fame it makes up for in being unpretentious and friendly. Delicious pizzas and more room to enjoy it in the newly expanded space.

This is my personal favorite restaurant to go when I need a comfort date with my boyfriend. The Ambiance is quiet, quaint, classy and familiar. The Waitstaff are some of the best in the bay with consistently knowledgable pallates and excellent suggestions. They are friendly and quick and remember yu often upon returning. The menu is seasonal so there is... More

Chef's choice was roast sucking pig this night, Birthday celebration. so drinks and wine both. Dinner and accounterments were wonderful and good value.Wine reasonably priced and the house choie a good one.Mixed drinks were "artisan", overpriced and not very good. (Over the past 50+ years, we all have had enough old fashioneds and sours to know a good one when... More

This restaurant is two blocks from our son's home. Visiting him and his family, the six of us went out to dinner. Everyone else ordered the Tuesday night special, spaghetti and meatballs. I ordered the pork shoulder. A bit of a wait, but the roasted brussil sprout starters made the wait quite pleasant When the entres finally arrived, i was... More

Our party of 10 was celebrating a birthday - staff promptly brought our beverages, but there was a long wait for our order to be taken. Bruschetta was bizarre - cold thick white Italian bread with a smear of cheese topped by lovely fresh figs, or chopped tomatoes (not particularly garlicky or basil-y). Pizzas were not warm when they arrived,... More

Great pizzas from the brick oven as well as other italian food from the oven. Good bar with inventive satisfying drinks.

I have visited this restaurant several times, and each dining experience has been very satisfying. Their chicken all'arrabiata was featured in Food & Wine magazine as one of the best chicken dishes in the U.S., and it is really fantastic. Though there are a lot of good things on the menu, I order the chicken every time. This restaurant knows... More

Excellent eclectic menu plus wonderful pizza. Reasonably priced but very busy. A few outdoor tables on a nice evening. In the process of expanding next door.
