Just returned from a business dinner at Bocanova. What a joy! Fresh, innovative flavor combinations, with beautifully prepared and presented food. The red pozole sounded so good, I had to try it, and I was not disappointed. Just the right level of heat, with a magnificent blend of textures between the beans, the chunks of chicken, and the tortilla strips... More

I've been to Bocanova many times, and ALWAYS have a great meal. The vibe is great, and the food interesting and delicious. Highly recommended!

Our waitperson decribed the menu as "latin-fusion," whatever that means. I had a sort of Mexican burrito that required a knife and fork to eat.. My spouse had a baked chicken. The service was friendly but spotty, and the room bright, open, loud, and packed with tables. Fun for one visit, but don't think we'll go back.

I went here for dinner with colleagues. The food was great, but the wine...oh, the wine!! I am a huge fan of Portuguese wine and there were lovely and unusual Portuguese selections on the wine list. I had a fascinating discussion with Gerardo, the manager and sommelier, about our selections. We enjoyed lovely glasses of port to end the night.... More

Small plates and great flavor. It can get a little noisy at times but it's worth it. Located in the very active Jack London Square.

Always delicious small plates to be savored and shared. Beautiful restaurant with lovely outdoor seating facing the sailboats. Very good service. Seasonally changing menu. One of the best!

Terrific menu, beautiful restaurant inside and out, helpful staff, great find. Try the kale salad with duck confit, or, just about anything.

For lunch—my first here in two years—about 12 noon, I asked to be seated outdoors on a large terrace facing the bay. A perfect California day: 65 and sunny. I was seated at a small table for two, from where I could survey the entire growing lunchtime crowd. Service: attentive, not aggressive. My waiter was in charge (took drink and... More

While visiting relatives in Oakland a group of eight of us were taken to this restaurant for dinner. As it was quite dark outside and I had been driven there, I wasn't readily aware of it's location. Once inside, I found the restaurant to have a softly lit woodsy ambiance. We were seated at a long table in the middle... More

I almost never post bad reviews unless my experience is really bad as I figure every persons experience is subjective based on many factors. I was really looking forward to eating here. I had looked at the menu and seen the reviews made the reservations. I gave this place 2 stars because there were two good things about this establishment:... More
