I've been a fan of Yoshi's for decades now, since it started as a little 15-seat place near Berkeley campus, to it's Oakland Claremont location to the current super venue in Jack London Square. The sound and atmosphere in the Jazz club can't be beat and it's a rare gem these days especially. Seating is OK although the booths make... More

Yoshi's is known for excellent chefs and our meal did not disappoint. Great fish filets, tempura lobster, tempura shrimp, brussel sprouts, calamari, and sushi all delight. Great saki, wine, and cocktail selection. To save on the tab, bring a bottle of wine and pay a corkage fee of $15. We ate before seeing an excellent live show, with Irma Thomas. A... More

Was going to the Count Basie concert and had read that doing the dinner show would help us get better seats. My wife tipped the maiter d and we ended sharing a booth with another couple. The dinner was good, smaller portions which us older folks like but very well done.

I love eating at Yoshi's. I always eat at the restaurant when I attend a Yoshi's music event in the club. The food is fantastic. At our last visit, my wife and I shared edamame, three sushi rolls and an amazing Kakiage tempura. We also had a few delicious cocktails. The service is fantastic. The ambiance upscale but unpretentious and... More

Some friends wanted to take us to dinner and a show to see Hiroshima and it was such a treat. I've been to Yoshi's for lunch and dinner before and have always enjoyed the ambience and the service. We started out with the panko fried organic brussel sprouts which were very tasty but just a taste for the 4 of... More

We are not big on Japanese food (don't much care for tempura, teriyaki or raw fish). But, we decided to eat here; because. we were seeing a show there after dinner. They reserve show seats for diners. We started with panko fried organic Brussels sprouts, kale and baby romaine miso Caesar salad, veggie sushi, Hamachi sushi (fried, no raw fish... More

Attached to a parking garage amidst the general lifelessness of Jack London Square, Yoshi's stands out as one of the Bay Area's best local entertainment venues, especially for those who love jazz. Yoshi's operates year round, sometimes with more than one headliner per day, and usually two shows per night. The entertainment room serves drinks, but there is also a... More

If you want a good seat at Yoshi's shows (best jazz club outside of NYC) you must eat dinner here because your server will get your seats for you. The physical plant is rather large and is done in a traditional Japanese style. It is the most expensive Japanese place in the East By save for the very elegant Ozumo.... More

Wow! Great meal. Awesome sushi! We dined before the concert and would recommend that as you can then reserve your seat for the show. Our only negative was the noise level in the restaurant made conversation difficult and the waiter forgot one of our dishes. Good table and plan on returning!
