Happened to stop by here on the way back from UC Berkeley (college tour visit) on St. Patrick's Day with my husband and son. The food was delicious and the desserts to die for. Dinners start around $25.00 and up with salads around $8.00. Not recommended for families with small children as this is a more formal restaurant. My only... More

Everything is fresh and creatively presented. The meats are excellent and the seafood perfectly done. Romantic, excellent service and great desserts.

On the positive side, the food was pretty good and the price was very reasonable for this Montclair neighborhood spot. This restaurant is convenient and has become a choice for our social group to meet for dinner. We have now done so 4 times over the past 2-3 years. Every time I leave with the same bad impression. The service... More

Chef Henry has build a loyal following with his continental style menu using the freshest ingredients. Montclair Bistro changes it's menu about 4 times a year depending upon what products and ingredients are in season and available. He also offers specials such as lobster when available. The restaurant includes a small bar so you can have your favorite cocktail before... More

Overall the experience was great. The restaurant is charming and very welcoming. The dining service was good, so was the food. The Abalone in puff pastries was very tasty, yet with lots of butter; the macaroni & cheese with truffle was delicious, no cheating on the truffle flavor; the salads were perfect with a light dressing but yet very flavorful.... There are a number of items on the menu that intrigue and the execution has been quite good. Service is a bit on the slow side. But, we will be going back.

I reserved a table at the Montclair Bistro for a dinner with high-school friends I had not seen in a long time. It turned out to be the perfect spot for a quiet get-together: the food was outstanding, and the unobtrusive and friendly staff allowed us to chat and get caught up with each other in a very pleasant dining... Went with friends for Sunday brunch and each of the four of us had something different. Everyone was very happy with their choice and we all agreed that we would be going back for lunch or dinner. This is a gem.

Three of us settled in for a special night out. I had the chive crusted stripe bass and my friends had the blackened salmon and the salad Kathleen. All were presented beautifully and enjoyed tremendously. Our starter was a threesome of seafood treats and my friends had the Caesar salads. The pinot noir we had from Willamette Valley was velvety... More

Visited restaurant for a last dinner with family -- glad to find something open on New Year's Day. Menu varied although a little light on vegetarian selections. Everyone in the party was happy with their choices -- especially my husband with the blackened salmon and my son with the roast beef special. Service was very attentive; even the chef stopped...
