This place had great food and they can even cook in front of you. They were amazing, the cooks, hostess, and our waiter. Great quite food for the price.

Nice to have a japanese restaurant in Oakhurst...but, the food was just 'ok'. We had the Combo: Shrimp Tempura (w/veggies) & Chicken Teriyaki. Batter on tempura was thick, more like fish-n-chips. Chicken breast for teriyaki was either boiled, or just defrosted from frozen state...sauce poured on top - rather bland. STILL...it is a nice change from burgers & pizza.
With many restuarants in Oakhurst closed the night of our Jan 2, 2013 visit we were just delighted to happen upon this warm, friendly, Japanese restuarant. Service was prompt. Food excellent. Full bar service. The side of gyoza was somewhat different that what we had experienced before and absolutely delightful!! Much enjoyed my combo of salmon teriyaki and assorted tempura!...

Waitress Debbie didn't honor the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday discount menu prices which would have reduced each meal by about $4. Chef Alex was skilled and cooked a nice meal. The interior design is a creepy aquarium theme.
Love to eat here for both lunch and dinner. Can be a bit pricy if you eat individual rolls. There combo dinners are the real value.
Yummy!
I have friends that say that they have had food poisoning here, but I have always had a great experience. I am local, so anything different is exciting, but I do eat out in the Bay Area and this is comparable. They have a delicious teriayki veggie bowl, good (if greasy...are they ever not?) tempura and I just found...

Sushi and teppanyaki in the Mountains. And it is excellent. Make sure you keep eating here so they don't close up and go away! Oakhurst needs to support it's good restaurants!!
Excellent sushi, fresh, casual dining experience. Sushi bar as well as casual seating at tables.
When your taste buds salivate for something different, Oka's Japanese food hits the spot. Their tapan tables are great fun to watch, their regular entrees from Sushi to tempura to steak and pork are all tastey. Service is good (not great if they're very busy), cocktails and wine are in small gleasses and overpriced. Atmosphere? Clean, comfortable, but not Japanese...

I was disappointed because there wasn't anywhere near the selection of sushi that there used to be, and that it seemed there was an overuse of teriyaki sauce on too many dishes.
