Better Food Than I Expected

Based on the prices and menu I was expecting a sit-down experience, but it's order at the counter and they bring it to your table. The decor is fun, a bit funky and service is casual but friendly. The food was great. They advertise it as slow-roasted bbq and it tasted like it. My BBQ pork... read more

We stopped in Alice's for dinner after a long drive from San Francisco to Oakhurst. At first we were a little put-off because they do not offer waitress service. You order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. The ribs were outstanding! They were large and very meaty. They were cooked to perfection. Tender but not... More

We stopped in for dinner one night while in Oakhurst to visit Yosemite Park. From the outside looking in we assumed this would be an expensive meal, but when we entered we realized it was an order & self serve seating type of establishment which we were more than happy to find out. They offer a decent selection of beers... More

We went in thinking it was a regular restaurant and it wasn't it was more order at the counter and sit at the 2 tables they have. While we were looking at the menu we realized how hot it was, there was no air conditioning and it was 90 outside. Then they gave us a list of the items they... More

Not bad barbecue - and they give you a lot! Service is pretty fast too. Very tasty, there are little tins of peanuts located throughout the resyaurant.

The BBQ is properly done. Ribs are OK but a but though. Pulled pork it's good. Brisket it's good but a bit dry. Not a world class BBQ but if you happen to be around and don't expect to eat the meal of your life... It will definitely do!

We were driving along trying to find a place to eat. We stumbled upon Alice's cookhouse. You walk in and place your order and they bring it to your table. Nothing fancy- no tablecloths or dress code. The food was so good! The bar b que was delicious! Everyone loved their meals! My boys loved it so much they ordered... More

My family of 5 adults ate here on 7-24-15. We like to try locally owned places when we travel and this one was very good. We enjoyed the casual, walk up atmosphere. All 5 of us ordered something different and I didn't hear any complaints. They were out of a side dish on one order and quickly offered a replacement.... More

We had ribs for two with three sides and soft drinks for $32 before tax. Could not upgrade for a beer, so just bought one on top of soft drink. Side of cornbread was fabulous, sides of coleslaw and macaroni salad were good, but small portions for two. Ribs were a large portion, but VERY disappointing. The hide was tough,... More

Ate here with family (of 5) in early-July given son has a thing for good BBQ. Both the quality and quantity of the food deserves a solid 4.5/5.0, but the place is what I'd rate as inadequate in both seating and air conditioning. No qualms with the BBQ as it's delicious. The amount of food brought out is beyond adequate... More
