Wonderful for me--not for everyone

Senior citizen talking to other seniors: I love this place, and suggest you try it. But make no mistake—it’s not for everyone. Have you eaten at that incredible high-class restaurant Ember in Arroyo Grande? Well, this is the opposite end of the spectrum. If you are put off by worn carpets... read more

Have you eaten at that incredible high-class restaurant Ember in Arroyo Grande? Well, this is the opposite end of the spectrum. We usually sit at or around the bar & we suggest you try this since this place gets super busy & seating is at a premium. We had the steak & pork bites along with the relishes, WOW! The service can be very spotty (see other comments) and this also comes from our friends who took us there & live... More

As many know, this place is mentioned over and over and is a tourist spot, so I was expecting mediocre. It was anything but ordinary. The steak was incredible. They cook this over an antique looking grill. Perfectly grilled, with the smoky salty flavor that was perfectly seasoned. Don't expect white table cloths and if you have cowboy boots wear... More

One of the best steaks and defiantly the best pork chops I have ever had that was not home cooked. If you are in the area call and make reservations. You are not paying for the atmosphere here it is a cafe style no frill location. The servers vary some are great and some you just cant wait to get... More

The place is a dive that has not been upgraded for years, many-many years. Some of the areas, including carpeting and corridors (grease is everywhere), are of questionable cleanliness. If one is able to overcome the above issues, then the steaks are actually decent. Not great by any means and the filet mignon is far from what one would get... More

Bugs in the salad. Twigs in the bottom of the original Jocko's beans. Rude staff. Filthy kitchen. You would have to be drunk to enjoy the oversized poisonous meals there. Go to little Jocko's instead since they have decent management. Eugch!

First time on a Sunday night. Two hour wait!! Ended up eating from the bar menu and people watching for two hours then left before being seated.

Had yet another really great steak at Jocko's. In fact my husband and I shared a spencer and we are not ashamed to admit it! No, we were not on a budget or a diet. We simply are unable to eat all the food they serve. We love the old fashion relish tray with carrot sticks, olives, celery, etc. when... More

Went on a road trip with some work buddies one of which drove 400 miles round trip to eat what turned out to be the best rib eye ever. The crowd at 4:45 on a Friday was massive but we ate in the hallway so the wait was 15 minutes. Service, food, and price were above board. The steaks were... More
