The best spot for breakfast in Newport!

I always stop in at Alta on visits to Newport Beach. It's the perfect spot for coffee and breakfast, tucked away on a side street on the peninsula. This was one of my favorite spots when I lived in California. This is a real deal coffee house, with an authentic feel and no corporate influence. The pastries are good and the food is excellent. I really didn't get specialty drinks, but the coffee was very good.If you're looking for something under the radar, definitely check it out!

Fun little place. We got our coffee and pastries to go and enjoy on Lido Isle, but this is a small and charming place with a full breakfast menu. When I say small, I mean tiny, but super cute and fun and very un-chain like. Definitely one of those places you will remember! Great coffee!

If you're into coffee houses, and you wouldn't be reading this if you weren't, you'll probably love this little spot. Starbuck's this is not! One of a kind, local color. Really tasty casual food and sandwiches, and of course, good coffee! Tucked away on a quiet side street out of the vortex that Newport Boulevard can be. You just want... More

Newport Beach is just a bit tough to take with all the glitz and plastic surgery. Alta reminds me of places in Marin back in the '60's. Kind of funky with lots of wood and art. I keep expecting a folk singer, with a head band and flowers in his/her hair in the corner. Oh, did I mention the breakfasts... More

The coffee was really good and the food was amazing. I had the toffee coffee which was as good as it was pretty. They have vegetarian alternatives and the service is great.

If you don't mind waiting in a line for breakfast Alta is extremely good. If you do mind waiting then you can call in your order for pick up. The surfer burrito is my favorite along with the spiced ice chai. They also have several different coffee's brewed daily along with hand pulled espresso shots!

Small independent coffee place which serves great coffee and breakfast. We usually have the breakfast burritos, the portions are good but not too much. The granola and fruits servings are great too.

I love this place, only a few blocks from my house! They have great coffee and it is such a cute place for a bite to eat and the casual solo laptop coffee session. Surprisingly, I love their creme brûlée! A nice quaint place in the hustle and bustle of the peninsula!

I love the deserts here. The double chocolate cake and the blue berry cobbler are superb! Such a chill vibe and a great place to drink some coffee. Alta is the jam!
