The Beachcomber is right on Crystal Cove Beach. You have to park your car in the lot across the highway and either take the shuttle down to the beach or walk. (Keep your restaurant receipt for parking validation; otherwise, parking is $15.00 in the lot.) The care serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. During good weather the outdoor tables are most... More

You will not find another restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner right on the beach in Southern California. Movies have been filmed here, and sense the nostalgia dating back to the early 1920s. And by the way, the food is pretty darn good too! I know the people that own it, and they are very particular about their restaurant and... More

We have eaten lunch here several times over the last year. The food is consistently top notch. The restaurant books only a portion of their tables via reservation. Everyone else gets to wait....sometimes quite a while. Don't get me wrong....IT IS WORTH THE WAIT, but why wait when you can reserve a table. They use OpenTable to book their reservations... More

First visit two years ago was very good in a;; respects, albeit pricey. This visit was disappointing in that the food was just average, causing the cost-benefit equation to come down to high pricing for just scenery/atmosphere. So to address that first, the atmosphere and service was excellent, as expected. What was unexpected was how unimpressive the food was. Calamari... More

We got there about 8 pm. Last minute decision that was not our best. Waiter was friendly and jovial but food beyond the calamari was slow to arrive. Water glasses were tiny and not refilled often enough. Calamari was soggy and sauce was watered down ketchup. No spice, no kick. Grilled scallops were terrible although waiter said they were recommended.... More

Had dinner one night (had reservations) and lunch on Saturday a few days later. Good food, nice portions, great location on the beach. Restaurant has a great "retro" beachside feel. If it's after dark, take the shuttle - don't attempt walking down to the beach. We took the path during daylight hours, and there was a small creek running through... More

Have you ever rented a tiny beach house? You know... where everything has sandy grit, the air feels humidly sticky, grime collects daily on the windowsill, and the place smells strongly of whatever was most recently cooked? That's the Beachcomber - a gritty beach rental feel with an awesome cook and a bunch of super friendly people serving. Given the... More

With a great setting they could probably relax on everything else but they don't. The food was great the service friendly. It would be great if there was no wait but hey your on the beach not home in Canada where it is minus 13. They don't even try to rob you when I am sure they could raise the... More

This is a nostalgic restaurant nestled right in a small group of homes at Crystal Cove State Park. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and professional. We ate there twice during our 5 day stay in Cal. Dinner was a bit expensive, but the presentation was good and the food was good. We also had lunch. We goofed and... More
