I was in Newport Beach for work. I was eating dinner by myself and asked my hotel, Hyatt, where to go. Told them I wanted great seafood with good bar. They didn't hesitate and suggested the Bluewater Grill. It didn't disappoint. Restaurant was just getting crowded. I sat next to oyster bar so I could order off main menu. Waitress... More

Overall experience with group of 10 was very good. Service was good, quick delivery and cleanup. Quality of food was great for 9/10 guests. One person had ordered Filet special and cut of meat was terrible and tough. I had the same special and mine was excellent but could clearly see the meat on his plate was not the same... More

Came here after work in search of some good seafood, but was kind of disappointed by the price. My meal was okay for being solely a seafood joint. The location is pretty spectacular on the water with many boats parked next to the patio.

My wife and I visited Bluewater over ten years ago. I was on a business trip by myself and wanted to revisit this restaurant because I had such an excellent meal at this restaurant then. I went to Wild Fish and 21 Oceanfront in Newport Beach during my stay. For the price, Bluewater was a better meal and wine than... More

the seafood was so darn GOOD. we have SWORDFISH,TROUT,HALIBUT,CRAB CAKE.CRAB SALAD,and OYSTER SHOTS. they used REAL CRAB MEAT instead of FAKE CRAB MEAT . ALL the fish was MOIST,TENDER and TASTE really GOOD..the best SPOT to sit was at the BAR WATCHING CHEF making our dinner. they just remodel their RESTROOM and look GORGEOUS. the CHEF was great and so... We have a beach home at the Wedge of Balboa Peninsula. this is where the locals of Newport Beach goes for seafood. The restaurant is unpretentious, the food is consistently very good. If you want seafood and eat like the locals of Newport Beach, this is the place.

While there are probably many restaurants in Newport Beach with a better view that Bluewater (sits on the edge of a harbor with no ocean view) there are probably view restaurants with better service and food. Granted, I was alone and only had my opinion of the food. But that opinion was THUMBS UP. I had the Lemon Pepper Encrusted... More

As the restaurant presents itself as a decent waterfront restaurant, we expected a good lunch. We travel the world exploring restaurants and this one cheats on its customers. The battered shrimps have about 1/6 of shrimp and 5/6 of batter. The oil in which the fries are fried is of sickening quality. The avocado salad contains 1/4 of an avocado,... More

I don't know if the hostess is intentionally rude or if she doesn't even know she comes across as inconvenienced by your visit. Either way, I think hostess is the wrong position for her. That detail aside everything else about this place was great. I will return when I'm in town again!

Dined here while on vacation in Newport Beach after reading other reviews that indicated it was more of a local favorite than some of the others nearby. Low key, good food, and had a local vibe. Lots of other seafood restaurants in area but Bluewater distinguished by no corkage BYOB policy.. and Rolf's wine shop on PCH conveniently located nearby... More
