Hawaian Fusion for a Price

I large group of us (15) went to Roy's for dinner. The service was really top notch. They deserved every bit of the $200 tip. I had the black cod (butter fish) and it was pretty good but they gave me a tail piece that was pretty thin so it was overdone. Others at the table had thicker pieces... read more

Expensive for what you get. Very busy and loud, service was not very good 15 minutes to get waited on after sitting at the table. The selection of food is good but the preparation isn't done well. I had the Korean special of the month, I cant do spice they said no spice and it was spicy. Not going back... More

Mediocre food with average preparation. My husband had the butterfish which he said was good. But not $40 good. My salmon had very little taste. It was presumably supposed to be hot, but was served over a room temperature/cool sauce and cucumber mixture. The sauce combination and taste and temperature failed. I was hungry and ate my dinner. But had... More

Roys is a restaurant that transcends a normal dining experience. The deserts are fantastic. I have never had a meal here that was not exceptional. Come with high expectations and have them met. It is a fusion restaurant between Hawiian, asian and American food.

Came for a third time last weekend. Waitress was less than helpful. Staff was frazzled, especially when a server broke a glass. It was busy, and food took long time. I ordered the Korean tasting menu which was okay, but the short rib had chunks of fat that were not trimmed. Yuk. I also ordered the bi bim bap as... More

My husband and I were here last year. While the food was good, we received something very unexpected in our glass. There was broken glass in our glass of water! It took me a while to register it, but by the grace of God, I figure that the clear particles at the bottom of the glass were not ice, but... More

Keeping up our tradition, while my girlfriend and I tend to favor local spots over chains we always make it a point to check out Roy's if there is one in the area. The food never disappoints, the more we try the more the ambiance and service vary. Roy's Newport Beach is located in Fashion Island. Situation next to True... More

This was such a disappointment. I had been to the original Roy's when it first opened in Honolulu and it was outstanding. With so many copycats out there, it didn't take long before a lot of restaurants began serving similar Pacific Rim cuisine, but Roy's always seemed to maintain an edge in quality. Not so here. The place itself seemed... More

I've gone to Roy's a few times in the past and have always liked it. This time was no different. I even feel like the menu has gotten more affordable, especially the wine list. I had a good Estancia Pinot Grigio for $8 a glass. We started with the lobster bisque and caesar salad. The caesar was delicious as was... More

Huge fan of Roy's in Hawaii Kai...Whole different experience in Newport. Not as fresh. Different menu.. Good but I'd say more like Roy's light!
