Pineapple upside down cake - yum

Appetizers were ok, the calamari had a nice zing to it. Chose the filet for dinner. Meat was tender and cooked well, but the shiso bearnaise sauce was too strong for me. Potatoes were meh. Best food part of the meal was the pineapple upside down cake for dessert. Service was outstanding.

Went here for Father's Day during our vacation. I opted for the Lobster and Shrimp. My wife had the Butterfish and Ribs. It was outstanding. I also ordered the fried rice. Everything at Roy's was great. My kids ordered the Teriyaki Chicken and the chef made a special cheese quesadilla for my son. All was excellent. My young kids love... More

I have dined at Roy's in Hawaii and California. We love the warmth and charm of the restaurants. Dining with friends is enjoyable with the good service and great food!My latest trip to Newport Beach was great with 75 friends.Everyone was so pleased and believed in my choice of Roy's. Now, Roy's has landed many more new diners! Great for... More

This once-upon-a-time bustling busy restaurant seems to have slipped in popularity. Returning after several months, surprised to see their Happy Hour scene almost deserted, the absence definitely not the norm. Roy's has always been one of my favourite restaurants through the years. Service and food were fine, although there was a sense of unease with the place being so empty.... More

The waitress was terrible. She said she would put something down and take our order then disappeared for 10 more minutes. They scooped up all of our appetizer plates and without asking took away our large appetizer platter for 7 that was only 2/3 gone without asking. Judging by her large frame, she probably ate it. When I asked her... More

Dined with a party of 14, 6 adults, 8 kids and the service was spectacular. I had the Roy's Trio, butterfish, salmon, and macadamia crusted mahi mahi. The butterfish was succulent and melted in my mouth. It was smooth and tasted like candy. The salmon had a nice flavor and was good. The mahi mahi was undercooked, raw, and wasn't... More

Always good service. Always good food. Let's just get this out that the chocolate soufflé is AMAZING. I want one right now. Also good is the fish trio (the butterfish is delicious), the sashimi (Maguro or raw tuna) is some of the best. They do tend to overdress their salads so if you don't like a ton of salad dressing,... Our visit here was amazing to say the least. Although we had to wait a while for our table because they were busy, it was well worth the wait. The trio of fish were superb, (salmon, mahi mahi, and butterfish). We shared the choc soufflé and the Pineapple upside down cake for desert, note that these take 20 mins to... More

Expensive for what you get. Very busy and loud, service was not very good 15 minutes to get waited on after sitting at the table. The selection of food is good but the preparation isn't done well. I had the Korean special of the month, I cant do spice they said no spice and it was spicy. Not going back... More

Mediocre food with average preparation. My husband had the butterfish which he said was good. But not $40 good. My salmon had very little taste. It was presumably supposed to be hot, but was served over a room temperature/cool sauce and cucumber mixture. The sauce combination and taste and temperature failed. I was hungry and ate my dinner. But had... More
