We went to Roy's Newport Beach for my son's 17th birthday. They had Happy Birthday confetti at the center of our table and a Happy Birthday note inside the menu. We had an Ahi Poke appetizer that was fantastic! My wife had the Opah with Crab Dynamite (tasty), my son had fish 3 ways (salmon, ahi, and butterfish), and my... More

After a nice drive down the coast from Long Beach, we set our minds on Roy's in Newport Beach with memories of pleasant experiences in Hawaii. On a Saturday night, with no reservations, we arrived around 7:30 to discover a one hour wait for a table but "try your luck at the bar" option. Hovering like starving vultures, a couple... More

Good restaurant and good food, but service was slow. Prices are higher than other restaurants that serve the same kind of food with the same quality.

It's a nice place if you want to eat something different, it's a Hawaiian fusion restaurant, but to me it was more like a international kind of food with sushi, nothing special about it.

Had a informal friendly dinner with a business friend. I have been to few Roy’s in the country and this one is not too big – It was a Monday evening so fairly quiet and we use the high top table in the bar. Being before 7pm we had the happy hours drinks and few appetizers from the early hours... More

At the last minute, the kids and I decided to take out my husband for his birthday and per his request, to Roy's. The receptionist on the phone was very friendly and accommodating so the evening seemed promising. We were seated in 10 minutes and the server also made an appearance within reasonable time. Kitchen: a different experience. It took... More

What a perfect restaurant to meet with friends for their version of Happy Hour! The small bites selection were good. From their signature drinks to wine and beer, they have what you are looking for. The staff is warm and friendly, laid back Island Style.

I made a reservation with a note about celebrating my parents' anniversary here a couple weeks in advance via OpenTable. We arrived on time and were seated a few minutes after. There was a cute arrangement of dried flowers in a heart shape, and my mom was pleasantly surprised with the special "Happy Anniversary" memo found inside the menu. Seasoned... More

Good food, kids friendly. Was close to the hotel. Hyatt provides a shuttle to the shopping area where the restaurant is at.

We have been to Roy's in Kauai, Hawaii several times and were excited when we saw Roy's in California, offering Hawaiian style cuisine. Although we like the one in Kauai better, this was still nice. They have a pretty marine fish tank when you first walk in, and they have a nice selection of seafood. Since I have had many... More
