Long time Newport restaurant

The Cannery has had many reincarnations. It was a real cannery then a restaurant. We still like it. Maybe not the very best food, but on the water and likable.

If the steamed clams in a garlic pepper wine sauce is not on the menu..,.. You gotta ask your server to see if the kitchen will make it for you!!! I did and have dreamed of my Meal everyday since. It was about two plus dozen baby clams in the best broth ever! Our server was fantastic also!

Had dinner this week at this restaurant with a group of 8. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Place was noisy so a little difficult to talk but great location in old cannery building right on newport harbor. Very good selection of fish entrees and all prepared well. Would go back again . There is also outside seating over looking the harbor

I visited the Cannery recently, great atmosphere for social gatherings with both indoor & outdoor options. Modest beer selection was somewhat of a disappointment but the sushi was great.

We had this place recommend for a romantic night out. Will definitely not go back. Wedge salad was average with a basic ranch type dressing and blue cheese. Clam chowder blah and bouillabaisse was downright awful. Broth was lukewarm and flavorless; lobster and crab both a really odd 'powdery' consistency and, again, lacking in flavor. The white fish in contrast... More

I really like the decor on the interior....definitely doesn't match it's exterior that's for sure. Had a great seat on the patio. Had Mango cocktails. My sister had their Burger which was so juicy n delish. Fries served with it had great seasoning! I ordered the grilled swordfish fish tacos. There were 3 of them. Definitely going back!

Attended a business meeting at the Cannery this week was impressed with the food and service. The fish tacos were very good and the shells were perfectly deep fried. The portions and spot on and the services we a perfect ten. The wait staff perfected the timing and were discreetly checking in. A must try if in the area

Great restaurant. Would recommend it to anyone. Ambiance is wonderful. Service is a little slow but the great meal makes up for it! Sat in the bar areas with the kids and it was fun.

I bit hard to find in Newport Beach, but a nice view of the back Harbor. The seafood was ok, but not exceptional as I expected for the price. The place closed for a while because they were going to tear it down and build a high-rise building. After that we never really ever went back again until this Jan.

This restaurant has been in Newport Beach for years. Some restaurants get kind of "long-in-tooth' however this restaurant stays relevant. It is a great location and the food is always excellent. Interesting, but not a surprise, that this is still a hot spot on weekends and has been for many years. If you had to pick a restaurant for your... More
