We have been here a handful of times and have enjoyed wonderful ambiance and great food. Recently we had drinks and sushi at the bar (we didn't sit at the sushi bar but the regular bar). We've been to The Cannery 3-4 times and although several people have raved about the abalone, I have never had a decent meal there yet. Twice, my entree of short ribs arrived barely luke warm. I would not recommend it. more

not sure why at time of writing it is #1 restaurant in newport on tripadvisor. 1. More of a traditional/old fashioned american restaurant with usual steak,chicken,fish etc. 2. Can't disagree. We found this place through TripAdvisor and saw nothing but rave reviews. Being in the area for the Pageant of Masters, we decided to try it. Look out! While the restaurant does offer your typical seafood fare and presents itself as the "in" place (Ferraris out front, necessary valet...), avoid their deception. We ordered the evening's specials with high hopes.... more

What can I say? THe Cannery is THE best restaurant in Newport Beach. Their menu is fabulous, the food devine, including killer deserts, and the service is gracious and wonderful. I come here often and have never had a negative experience. Come and enjoy! I personally love to dine on the patio and watch the boats and the water. more

Had a wonderful steak dinner at the Cannery. Wine is delish (of course). This place was recommended to us and it was really good. Service was great. View was not so good. more

Great seafood, just make sure you only eat in the restaurant area so you don't have strangers trying to sit on your table. more
