We had lunch there around 1pm on a Thursday after arriving on a friend's boat at their dock. We ate outside. Poke appetizer was really good. My wife had a dozen oysters but we failed to get the names...half dozen were very small but apparently quite good as she is still talking about them days later. I had the lobster... More

I was there tonight for a business function and we were not disappointed. We got great service & great food. I would definitely return.

Let me preface by saying that I am from Utah so my credentials can easily be suspect. The Cannery experience was added upon as we phoned ahead to inquire about dock space for my brother's 33 footer. Everything only got better after tieing up. Started with Ahi Tuna Poke. Fabulous! The 3 of us had fish tacos, fish and chips,... More

A trip to Southern California is not complete for my family without a visit to The Cannery in Newport Beach. We have been coming to this restaurant for 28 years and have never been disappointed. In fact, we have not visited any other restaurant in any city we have visited as many years as we have visited here. The harbor... More

My family was happy with the seaside patio ambience, the good food, and especially the desserts. We were well taken care of except that the food arrived very slowly -which meant eating lots of bread and cornbread to span the time. As a result I left the restaurant feeling bloated. Maybe they need to staff up in the kitchen at... More

This is wharf side dining with a focus on seafood. The food was fine if unimpressive and the service slow and uneven. If the weather has been better and we were able to eat outside, I think it would have been a more pleasant experience.

Nice place right at the water. Food is good. Good for a relaxed lunch or a evening dinner. During the week at lunch order a bottle of win @ have priced. I recommend the place.

I've been here quite a few times for both happy hour and dinner in the main dining room. The food in the main dining room is delicious we get the crab cakes as an appetizer and the Salmon for the main course. Service is good but nothing to write home about. Happy hour is upstairs in the bar area and... More

We have lived in Newport Beach for over 50 years. We enjoyed the Cannery for many years. The last two times we were there, the waiters were rude and disinterested. The valet service was terrible the last time we went. There were four of us and upon handing the valet our ticket, he proceeded to bring up cars from five... More

Everytime I go to the Cannery, I am amazed we don't go here more often. This restaurant is solid. From great service, to wonderful atmosphere, to delicious food, it is one of the best around. You must try the soups, either one is great! And my favorite dish, the seafood stew Bouillabaise, is so amazing!
