If you have never been here its right on the bay. Beautiful location, beautiful resturant. Great happy hour. They have a sushi bar and lots of sushi on the menu. Just s great spot.
Kind of off the beaten path, located in an old building that was once a real cannery, hence the name. Adjacent to Newport Canal, with outdoor seating on a rustic deck next to the water. The Cannery has been through multiple lives as a restaurant. Sophisticated seafood focused menu, some meat as well. I call it a casual chic atmosphere,... More
We arrived early for weekend happy hour. It was not very crowded when we arrived but soon filled up. Service was a bit slow. Even for happy hour I thought the prices were a bit high. The food was good but not exceptional. Nice view of the water and boats though.
We did not enjoy our dinner at The Cannery. The service was below average and the food was as well. It was recommended by the hotel were we were staying and I wondered why they sent us there with so many other outstanding establishments in the area. I have to wonder if there is some sort of arrangement between the... More
This is an eclectic restaurant, right on the harbor at Newport Beach. Several business colleagues and I sat at an outside table on a heated veranda ... a nice atmosphere. Food was excellent. I had the butterfish, which was amazing! Great location. Great Service. Great food.
Three of us enjoyed brunch at the Cannery on Sunday. We were seated at the water's edge....the weather was perfect and the scenery was great. Two of us ordered clam chowder and fish and chips. The chowder was thick and creamy and the 5 pieces of cod were more than could be eaten. I order the prime rib which was... More
Everything you could want for a special evening. Food was excellent. I had the black cod fish;it wAs outstanding. Husband had butterfish (never heard of it before). It was equally good. Service was friendly and top notch. We had the round corner table where John Wayne sat. Very charming. They have gluten free items also.
On our Honeymoon from Memphis, we wanted to have some excellent fresh seafood in California. The Cannery was rated rather high, apparently by people that don't prefer their food seasoned. The food was extremely overpriced for as good as it was. I guess as long as you cover table with cloths and charge high prices, you can be considered "fancy"... More
I haven't been to the Cannery in years but decided to pay a visit. I was pleasantly surprised. I was concerned with some of the sauces they pared with the fish but my worries were unfounded. I had the butterfish and it was perfect. Everyone at our table ordered something different and we all thought we had the best dish.... More
Cannery is great for Happy Hour if you want to grab a glass of wine or a beer. Cocktails are still pricing during Happy Hour and can be hit or miss in strength depending on the bar tender. Service is usually slow, but it's probably because they get so busy in the bar area. Sushi is half off which is... More
