Il Faro is a place one wants to like - as the location is good, and so is the food. But . . . hospitality is lacking - and the staff is not welcoming. Better to consider the options in Newport - and find a better atmosphere.

Never imagined that this small café on the beach would be such a great place. The food was excellent, well presented and cooked (pasta al Dente)! What made it much more memorable was their staff; they were very attentive, fun and friendly! I would return to Newport Beach just to eat here.

My wife and I walked past this place while looking for somewhere to eat and we were drawn in by the lovely garlic aromas. The decor and layout was very Italian. We had to wait 10 mins for a table inside but it was worth it. My mixed grill was very tasty as was my wife's pasta and it was... More

I decided to go to this place for a Mother's day dinner on a Saturday, upon the recommendation of a colleague. I called in to reserve a place for 4 adults and 2 toddlers, in the day, specifically asking for a booth. We reached there right on time and stood inside waiting for 10 minutes. There were waiters, bartenders, people... More

We'd eaten at this restaurant on a previous stay at Newport Beach so it was nice to return to it on this occasion. Excellent quality food at reasonable prices with friendly attentive staff. What's not to like. We ate here on three occasions and, each time, had a meal that left you wanting for nothing. If you're staying in the... More

This place is a gem. Real and interesting Italian food. Both my husband and I had risotto made from farro. Creamy and delicious. Drinks were lovely too. Very family friendly. Desserts looked gorgeous but we were too stuffed to try them. Great alternative to the lower quality seaside food that is near the pier. But not stuffy or pretentious. Service... More

My husband and I found this restaurant as we were walking in Newport Beach. We were very impressed with the friendly welcome we received and we were given water within minutes of being seated. I had the Ravioli di Farro allo Zafferano which I thought was the best ravioli I ever had. I really liked the Farro and the sauce... More

We ordered via phone for pickup. We wanted a pizza with more than they normally put on it based on their menu. The order taker said: "this is a 10 inch pizza, you want to put all that on a 10 inch pizza?" As it turned out, they didn't put everything on that we ordered/paid for. The eggplant parmesan was... We found this place by accident. They are in a tiny location off the Newport pier with limited seating and parking outside. Four of us parked our bikes and walked around looking for a restaurant for a cup of coffee. I was so please to find this place and have a cappuccino, (hazelnut). It tasted perfect! the espresso and the... More

Having traveled to Italy several times, it was a welcome surprise to walk into this charming spot. I felt like I was in Florence. We noticed that other diners were enjoying themselves, and really digging in to several courses. My husband and I just shared a pizza, but it was tasty and traditional, meaning not a crispy crust, which was... More
