Upscale Mexican with traditional flavor

The food and service are both top notch. My wife had the gobernador taco and has been dreaming about it ever since. Everything we had was very good. I should have not been surprised, the restaurant was packed on a Thursday. Also if you choose to eat there ask for a seat with a view.

Was feeling super lazy and decided to do take out the other day and Sol Cocina did a fantastic job. Well packaged, tasty, not skimping on portion size and did I say tasty. The naked guac was very nice and the taco bufalada was super tasty. Have not actually gone it but was super impressed with the take away and... More

I really enjoy SOL for the fresh approach to Mexican food. Yes, it's more expensive than the usual fare but the ingredients are fresh and the food is great. Lovely view of the marina and the servers were efficient and friendly. Margaritas were awesome as well.

As a frequent traveller (over 200 nights per year), I have the distinct pleasure of enjoying the business travellers favorite "spoils". Until this evening, one of those was Sol Cocina where I've entertained countless clients and friends enjoying spectacular cuisine. Regretfully I may never come back and strongly ask that you ALL scope out the "privileged" parking as I was... More

Having read the reviews, I had expected more. The food was good don't get me wrong. But it's slightly better than your average place found in the OC/LA area. My global ex-Mexico benchmark restaurant is Mestizo in Central London. Sol Cocina is nothing close in terms of authenticity. Too many Americanized familiar items. Yes, the flavors are not typical (especially... More

My husband and I ate here a few weeks ago while visiting Newport Beach, and we enjoyed everything we ate! The restaurant has a fun atmosphere (we were sitting near the bar area) and great decor. It got a little loud but we could still hear each other talk. We had the calamari, which was very good, and also enjoyed... More

Three of us ate there two weeks ago, while visiting Orange County. Excellent choice! Fresh food, attentive and friendly service, all with a view. Will definitely return and have already recommended it to friends who will be visiting the area.

This restaurant was recommended to us by locals as a real Mexican experience. It did not disappoint! The place was packed on a Tuesday evening at 6:30 and we were lucky we had reservations. They were very accommodating for people without reservations and the bar area handles the overflow and those waiting for tables. Happy hour was from 5 -... More
