We were on our way to our usual, Avila's in HB at the end of main..a favorite..but, since we were staying in Newport, decided to give something closer a try; especially after seeing the rankings were high for this place. Sits right off the PCH; easy to find. Free valet parking is available. We were immediately sat, tho, asked if... More

We stopped in for a late dinner after a long day. The lobster tacos were very good, and the rest of the group enjoyed the chicken taco and steak. Will definitely visit again!

Was very highly recommended. Got sat quickly, and staff and service was good. Was on a fish taco quest, and were we told to try Sol Cocina. I would not say they are the best in the area by any means. The other things we got were pretty good. I probably would try other options next time we visit.

We had an excellent lunch at the SOL Cocina recently. Everything tasted fresh and different. Originally we had planned on ordering the Guacamole Sol as a starter, but...after seeing three different salsas and a nice basket of what must have been "homemade" corn tortillas we changed our mind. The whole tortillas were not deep-fried...may be baked, and therefore not greasy... More

This is not your typical Mexican restaurant. This is a beautifully decorated facility with an excellent menu and a very special presentation of the food served. A friendly host/ hostess staff greeting you as you enter is just the beginning of dealing with an efficient and friendly wait staff. Highly recommended if your liking is an upscale Mexican meal.

Read the reviews, gave Sol Cocina a try, and we were not disappointed. Don't let the portion size comments fool you. You'll get plenty unless you're a binge eater. The food was fresh, spicy enough to enjoy with the the option to make it your own, and well presented. I will definitely return to Sol Cocina.

I ate at the bar, which was hopping for happy hour. Good beer selection, the bartender was fantastic. I had 3 tacos, all of which were very good. On the pricey side for Mexican though.

We've eaten at Sol several times and I leave with a sense of ambivalence. They try hard, but make some consistent mistakes. On our most recent visit, it was evident that they are moving toward a focus on street tacos. This is fine, but having had street tacos on the streets of Mexico, these tend to have too many ingredients.... More

Not only was the food some of the best Mexican we've had in a long time, but we felt like VIP! The food was equally matched by such an amazing and friendly server. The tacos were reasonably priced and each time a dish arrived at our table, it was devoured. We're thinking of going back again on this trip. Make... More

Whether you choose to go for Taco Tuesday or an ordinary evening, Sol Cocina is a very happening place! We again went to celebrate a girlfriend's birthday. Some of the girls hadn't been there before and absolutely loved it! We knew they wood! My daughter and her cousins and friends go to Taco Tuesday regularly…a lot of fun!
