A local recommended the Galley Cafe as the only authentic diner in the area and he was right! Small, no tables for large parties, but the counter is great! Right on the water at a marina, reportedly where John Wayne used to stop in. Excellent food at decent prices. Our pancakes, eggs, breakfast burritos were awesome! Nice staff.

This is a wonderful little restaurant that is at the very end of a street on the water in Newport Beach. It's a small place with a very, very nice menu and nice staff to go with it. It radiates its own charm from specials posted on a board to cozy booth and counter-top dining options. The Galley Cafe is... More

I absolutely love the "Ma & Pa" little hole-in-the-wall places, and I've been rooting for the Galley for years! My family, on the other hand, has not been impressed, largely ignores my opinion, and 99.9% of the time opts for another breakfast spot!! Anyway, truth be told, they're right on most points. It's a bit of a trick to find.... More

A hidden gem that locals know well, the Galley was a favorite of mine growing up and on my latest visit with my family lived up to the hype I laid down about it. My daughter loved the real cherry coke made in front of her as we sat at the counter and the chocolate shake was worth every calorie... More

My family and I have been visiting Newport Beach for a long time. We often like to drive around the neighborhoods in hopes of discovering something new. We stumbled onto this little diner after taking a few deliberate "wrong turns" in this upscale bay-side neighborhood. First of all it's an old diner, built in 1957. It's set beside a marina,... A meal at the Galley is like stepping back in time. Breakfast means one thing to me here - the house special chili cheese omelet. Perfectly executed and full of flavor. A gut buster but totally worth it. Arrive early on the weekends as the lines can be long.

Had breakfast there and it was great. Long queues at weekend but weekdays seem ok. We had a great server who remembered all the order from the previous visit. Real traditional place but worth the wait.

Casual, great breakfast by the ships on the Harbor. Old fashioned soda fountain and a terrific chili cheese omelette.

Quaint little restaurant since 1957 with a great view of a harbor. Great breakfast and very good prices, will certainly be back!

Was taken to The Galley yesterday morning for breakfast. I'm glad they were driving, because I never would have known it was there otherwise. There was a line outside, but it moved relatively quickly. Seating is on an absolutely first-come, first served basis. Once inside, I thought that I had been transported back to the 50's. It was the quintessential... More
