Every time I visited this restaurant, there was always a long queue. But every time I felt it was worth the wait. The soups are great, but the best of all is their smoked salmon plate. This is not however a luxury restaurant, the cutlery, cups and plates are plastic and the decorations are rather rustic, but the food is definitely... More

During a recent visit to Newport Beach we were directed by locals to Crab Cooker as having the best and freshest seafood. If this is the best then I can't imagine what the worst is like. The atmosphere is a bit kitschy and the waitresses are great (along with the fabulous bread) but the scallops and shrimp were about the... More

We loved Newport Beach and when we saw this place with a queue outside we thought "yes this is us". We came away feeling an opportunity had been missed for a good seafood experience. The server was efficient, not friendly, the menu o.k. but not special. The food very average, I have had 100's of prawn cocktails and shrimp mains... More

First, love the history that goes with the Crab Cooker! Love the atmosphere! And, love the service! Our waitress was so friendly and quick to get us whatever we needed. Now, for the food! OMG!!! Yes, it was that good!! The clam chowder and crab cakes were both out of this world! We were a party of 6 and everyone... More

but the seafood was overcooked, thus pretty tasteless! Love the service, the atmosphere, the history. Didn't love the paper everything- truly a waste. My husband enjoyed the clam chowder.

I'm always happy when we go here to eat. The seafood is fresh and prepared perfectly. If your looking for white table clothes better go some place else.

Whether you eat in or take out, count on the freshest available local fish grilled and served within minutes of your order. This is not a fancy fish place, but a local institution with a menu that has not really changed in over 40 years. All meals served on paper plates, used to drive my mother nuts, but now she... More

We used to go here 48 years ago. Will be in town this week end and it will be our first stop. It used to have the best grilled fish ever

We've been eating here for more than 40 years! The food is always consistently good, the Cole Slaw and Romano potatoes are best with the combination plate of seafood skewers.
