We were walking on the island and asked some locals the best place for dinner. They reccommended the Crab Cooker if we liked fish. It was an old school fish market. We weren't very hungry and our server told us to get the small fish kabob . Delicious fish! Very mild and cooked well. The potatoes were dried boxed and... More

The wait was never long for us -- we had a tougher time parking, to be honest. We went there two evenings during our stay, because my 13-year-old absolutely needed more crab cakes. We both had the shrimp and scallop skewers, grilled, and those were fantastic. The reviews are right that the ambiance of the place is affected by the... More

It's a non description working man or woman's place to go and enjoy great seafood ! Not a franchise but rather a simple place near the Newport beach pier that you would enjoy I have been a few times and it was great No concerns !

This was highly recommended by a fellow guest in Carlsbad so we drove an hour (probably more as the GPS couldn't find it). Fish is for sale when u walk in. There is no ambiance with paper and plastic as the utensils. They only had Manhattan clam chowder, out of raw oysters. We ordered the skewered oyster meal as an... More

This place is amazing! There is a line out the door apparently at all times, but it moves fast. The food is unbelievably good! And very inexpensive! We had the smoked tuna which was different and delicious, crab cocktail, fried calamari, shrimp and sides. Plus wine and the bill with tax was only $50! I will definitely go here again... More

The Crab Cooker is an iconic restaurant with good fresh seafood and many quirks. It is housed in a former Bank of America branch, painted a dark red, with scarce parking. There is no view. The Crab Cooker brings a new meaning to the no frills concept. The service can be friendly and good on some days, and surly and... More

Came here with my family for lunch. I had the clam chowder, which is not your typical clam chowder. It was like a tomato soup with large chunks of clam that were hard to eat. We were mostly ignored by our waitress. Overall, everything feels dirty and uncomfortable. Not like a place I would like to eat. Wine was served... More
