Good, simple, solid fish restaurant and market. I grew up going there and still stop in for lunch when I'm in the area. You need to say, "I've been there".

The Crab Cooker - has been there forever it seems. On a corner. You most often have to wait, especially in the evening, but that is part of the ambiance of it all. Inside it is a little tight, but the food is really good, you'll be glad you ate there. I wouldn't miss it. You can also get food... More

The Crab Cooker in Newport Beach claimed to open since 1950. The place is always full with people from the area. For customer that love seafood, they will put up to the paper plates and plastic cups provided by the dining outlet. However for other that require better quality food and drink, the policy of paper plates and plastic cups... More

I guess they are living on their reputation. The service was mediocre at best, just an order taker and when asked what she recommended, they told us the lobster. Funny since this was the most expensive item on the menu, no other suggestions. The food was just ok. I would not go back. I guess it is one of those... More

The food is served on paper plates, wine in plastic, but don't let that deter you. The best smoked fish anywhere. I have probably been there 100 times.

I've been going to the Crab Cooker for at least 40 years, and have never had anything but a delicious meal! The ambiance is casual and down to earth. Best halibut I've ever had!

Went there Sunday at noon. Not too crowded but full. The waitress was there right away for whatever we needed. This is not a fancy seafood restaurant but a fresh well grilled one. Paper plate, plastic forks and fresh food. The sides were great. Cole Slaw, Parmesan crusted mashed potatoes were very good. The combination plate was smaller but excellent.... More

Been to the Cooker many, many times over the years. Needless to say, keep going back! Really good, fresh seafood and fish served up simply, along with a super dose of local color. Can be crowded and noisy at times, but that's part of the charm. Lots of hustle and bustle. Super casual, offbeat, fun atmosphere. So glad to see... More

What a nice simple place to have a lunch. We had no place in mind, but when we saw this restaurant red painted in a corner we knew we would have what we were expecting. It has a short menu, but everything we order was just as good as we wanted. Simple paper plates and plastic cutlery was something we... More

Grilled shrimp and scallops, potatoes, and cole slaw served on a paper plate. No fried shrimp on the menu. My husband swooned over the soft shell crab, lightly breaded and deep fried. Don't know how he can eat a creature, she'll and all. But he was in heaven doing so! Great atmosphere, great food, and great service.
