Nice, almost neighborhood feel

Food was great, place had a bit of buzz going on a Thursday night. Josh took great care of us, provided plenty of personality and oversight to a very nice dinner with a coworker. Beautiful sunset - great family dining. Only a couple blocks from the insanity of the downtown evening in July.

Excellent Italian fair. Great for takeout. The risotto special is my usual choice, but the menu is full of great choices. Nice cozy bar. Parking can be a challenge on a busy day in the summer, but not impossible.

This is an outstanding establishment, service, quality of food and price point. We started with calamari and clam appetizers, both were executed very well. For entrees my wife had the Linguine Pescatore (21.25), a huge plate of linguine heaped with mussels, clams, calamari and shrimp.I had the Pappaedelle AL Sugo D'Agnello ( 21.75), braised lamb shoulder, shaved ricotta salata and pappardelle pasta, it... We were on a short visit to Newport Beach from the East Coast. We hadn't made dinner reservations anywhere before we left DC. We started calling restaurants around 4pm on a Saturday afternoon. There was nothing available from 6-10pm, until we called Cucina Alessa. They were fully booked but they said they could squeeze us in on the patio at... More

I have come here many times throughout the past years. This is my absolute favorite Italian restaurant in Newport. The service is great, but the location and atmosphere are not the best. Parking is very troublesome, and the noise level is very loud. The restaurant is pretty small, and there is always a wait around dinner time. MAKE SURE to... More

Based on the reviews here we headed to the Newport Beach location. We were in a separate room but noise levels were not good until the party of 5 at the next table left. A combination of they were loud, tables close, and poor acoustics. Our server was very good. Our food was very good as well, though I had... More

Reservation...still had to STAND outside and wait 30 minutes...to me that means the restaurant does not know how to book properly. Had to ask for server after being seated for 15 minutes. Food was fine but not remarkable. Salad was dry and just a bunch of lettuce and could not even eat half of it. Some of the entrees were... More

The food is authentic southern Italian fare. Sauces are tasty and really blend with the pastas which are homemade. Only drawback is that no matter where you are seated in this rather small place, you can't hear anything but the loud noise of other tables. It is absolutely deafening. Don't even try to have a conversation, just eat the great... More

By my budget standards, this is a bit pricey. The food and service were excellent. Wish I could remember name of my dish - it was pasta and vegetables. Definitely the best meal in my visit to Newport Beach area.

We enjoyed dinner here last night and have been many times in the past. Some of our favorite dishes are Pasta Nonna and Margherita Pizza. Service is always great! We love the bread and herb dipping oil.
