Great Lunch with a View

My husband and I went to Balboa Island on Sunday, August 2, 2015. A friend recommended that we grab lunch at Newport Landing so we stopped by. We glanced at the menu and then saw the buffet and chose the latter. It appeared small at first glance but there were tons of options, everything from breakfast, seafood, sushi and desserts.... I always fall victim. You go to the harbor and get a hankering for sea food. You find a cool little place with awesome ambiance. You grab a table and get a little shocked from the prices but decide to say because of the atmosphere. Come to find out the food is over priced and terrible. The location is beautiful... More

Took a hike and ferry ride over to Balboa Peninsula and came across this right after exiting ferry. Downstairs closed but upstairs ready for lunch. Nice open dining for lunch with great view. Bloody Mary’s and Calamari appetizer for starters. The bloody Mary’s were nicely spiced and an above average pour. The calamari was surprising in that is was large... More

After a harbor cruise on a boat rental at sunset, we had dinner at Newport Landing. My mahi-mahi was perfectly cooked, and the teenagers enjoyed their burgers and calamari. My friend and I both ordered Mai Tai which is nothing to write home about...wish we ordered something else. Good service, nice view of the harbor, Lido Isle and Balboa Island,... More

Excellent, very contemporary seafood with a great open area(under cover) next to the bay. And if you want to have the perfect experience ask for Derick. He is "Mr. Personality"! You will want to go back fast.

My wife and I had made a day trip to Laguna Beach for our anniversary and were looking for somewhere to eat that might be a little on the romantic side. We were driving up the coast back to LA when we just googled places in Newport to go to for dinner and this one sounded like it might be... More

After a day trip to Catalina Island, we decided to eat at the Newport Landing Restaurant. It was not busy and the service was excellent. I had the blackened Ahi Tuna, which was masterfully seasoned so as not to overwhelm the dish. The tuna was also served with an excellent wasabi-aioli sauce. I dined with my wife and daughter who... I'm a local and believe this is the best place to go with friends, family, and out-of-towners. We go for happy hour and enjoy their food and mai tais. Many good times have been had while overlooking the water. I've met new friends here who have become lifelong friends. If you are looking for a great place to experience what... More
