Our second visit and it will not be our last. This time we brought friends along to enjoy the authentic Italian food and the friendly attentive service. Great food, good wine and a great time. Highly recommend this little out of the way dining experience.

We were in Newcastle for a small community festival. We followed out noses to this place. Lunch & dinner menus are very similar. Lunch has sandwiches in addition to the constant Pizza & Pasta, dinner has "specialties" accompanying the Pizza & Pasta. We split the Smoked Salmon sandwich & a La Fornaretta Pizza with pepperoni, artichokes, anchovies, & green onion.... More

This place is so good. We have been many times. Everything is delicious, but my family and I absolutely love the pizza. Our fave is the Alaskan: smoked salmon and capers...so good. Please visit this gem when you travel through because we want it to stay around forever!

AWESOME! I was looking for a place to dine near Penryn and a co-worker mentioned this restaurant. She hadn't eaten there but said it "smelled good". So I did a search for an Italian restaurant in Newcastle and La Fornaretta came up. Yelp rating was high as was Yahoo!! I was VERY happy. The restaurant is quaint, built into part... More

La Fornaretta is the type of place you hope to find, the kind of restaurant you can easily make "our place" because of its warmth, accessibility and overall goodness. Friendly staff, attentive service and the food... authentic and delicious. The wine pours are generous and the house chianti is excellent and reasonable. The core menu is solid - good food,... More

What a great Italian restaurant! We have tried many eateries in western Placer County and none of them measure up to this one. A very small, but quaint establishment in old town Newcastle. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner in a very friendly but professional manner. We hardly sat down when water was served and shortly thereafter a... More

This out-of-the-way Italian gem is located in the heart of old Newcastle. Its tucked away into the old weights and measure building in old town. The restaurant is very charming, if not small and intimate. Have been here many times, last time took my daughter here before the daddy-daughter dance and the waiter was so nice. He fawned over us... When it comes to Italian food I am very picky as I grew up with grandparents who came from Italy and cooked Sunday dinner each week. A hidden gem in Newcastle is not only warm and friendly, the food here rocks! Try the Pasta Alla Norma or the Spaghetti Carbonara and you will not regret a single bite. The pizza... More
