Great menu, well prepared and served promptly by a very friendly staff. The NY Steak with Bleu cheese was a real treat and the fresh fish was perfeclty prepared.

We are in the area on business this week and decided on Friar Tuck's at the recommendation of our Innkeeper. Nevada City is a cool mountain town with a quaint downtown area and it is especially pretty at night lit up.
When we arrived we were seated in the bar area and then moved to the restaurant section where there...

Food was poor, and service slow! Waitress was pleasant and it appeared the problem was the kitchen. Chicken Picata came out 45 min. after order, browned to the point of burned, without any sauce...and a few capers sprinkled on top. Salads were only good thing we had. If it wasn't for the bottle of wine we had, we would have...

Sorry, but it's the truth. I've been here twice and won't willingly give it a third try. The first time I had a really over cooked Duck. The last time was the Steak Diablo. New York steak with a Peppercorn Brandy sauce. The sauce was barely there and barely noticeable. The steak was medium when I asked for rare. The...

We made reservations and glad we did. Friar Tuck's is popular with locals and tourists and can get busy. My husband had the rack of lamb and I had the prime rib. The portions were HUGE! They were presented well, cooked to order, and tasty. Our server was engaging, attentive and helpful. We had the appetizer of steamed clams that...

My wife and I went to dinner last night. I had a bowl of black bean and beef soup ( I think it also had some chorizo). Soup was very good with the right amount of spice for me. We both had the wild line caught halibut with sun dried pesto sauce. It was cooked perfect for us. We like...

Went here for dinner on a Friday night. The food was average at best (I had the steak - completely over cooked, my friends had the fondue - I think was more successful than the steak). But the reason for the poor rating is service. We were pretty much ignored the entire time, I had to get up and go...

We shared the prime rib and were served two full plates of food, very delicious and generous!! nice wine list.
Went to Friars Tucks for our annual New Year's Eve dinner. Been going for years. Started with salmon carpaccio. Excellent in taste and portion. I had the prime rib and my wife lobster tail. Both were excellent. Finished with the fresh pie we shared. Kelly Fleming with Juliet for music made for an enjoyable evening.
