Great ambience

Stopped in for a glass of local wine and a cheese fondue. The bar was hopping and the live guitar player was fantastic. Seemed like everyone knew each other.

Perfect spot to drink wine and enjoy appetizers as you " people watch" from bay windows. We always enjoy their live music and, when hungry, a great steak dinner. Another idea is to try a fondue, especially when it's snowing. It all seems to just go together. Wonderful Nevada City atmosphere!

Very expensive and food a disappointment. My fiancé ordered a steak and found it had been smothered underneath with mustard which he loathes. Even when scraping it off it spoilt it for him. I did not enjoy my pasta as it was too gooey. The live singer was a little too loud if you are seated near him. Staff very... More

We hadn't been back here in years, and although it's a pretty place with good service and nice live music, we probably won't go back for dinner any time soon....$30 for steaks that are "just okay" seems too high to me....although the plate was nicely presented & the sides quite good. Salads are extra, & no bread - just a... More

Our flooring is being replaced and house is disrupted, so we went to dinner both Friday and Saturday night. We started Friday with the sautéed mushroom appetizer. Very good. I had the rib eye special, which I really enjoyed. It was cooked the way I ordered it My wife had the steak salad. Very good. She likes her meat well... More

The fondue was very good. When it is served it doesn't look like it will be enough but it is more than enough for two people. We had the bubble and squeak (think that is the name) and it gave you a little of everything. It's a family friendly restaurant and on the bar side, great live music and fun... More

Good food in the arguably nicest Bar in our area. It is the place to be seen for the professional crowd. the restaurant itself is cozy and comfortable.

For the second time I went to Friar Tucks and don't plan on ever returning. It's a beautiful restaurant and the staff is very good. However the bill was about $100 for 2 and the quality of the food was barely above a chain diner. I ordered prime rib that was just barely ok. The other member in the party... More

Friar Tuck's features live local musicians in the bar 7 nights per week, a varied grille menu plus fondue dishes, and the spreading (faux) tree covering the main dining room. Food preparation and quality is consistent, with some excellent items (like Tempura Tiger Shrimp and Reese's Peanut Butter Pie). With a good local clientele Tuck's can feel like the local... More

I really enjoy going to Friar Tuck's and I have been there many many times. The primary draws for me are: Convenience: It is right in lovely downtown Nevada City. Music: There is live music 7 days a week. Performers are talented local artists and it is like seeing a friend when the are there playing. Atmosphere: Tuck's has a... More
