Fabulous garden patio

I stopped by for Brunch and found the patio while exploring the place. Beautiful day to eat outside. I loved everything about the place. Staff was friendly. Food was adequate but I take some responsibility because I knew it was iffy ordering Crab Benedict. I knew deep down it was not the right... read more

I made a 7:30 p.m.reservation for 4 of us for a Birthday dinner two weeks in advance. When we arrived (on time) last night the "hostess:' (who could have cared less),casually told us someone had seated themselves at what was to have been our table & we should "wait 15 - 20 minutes at the bar if that works for... We took friends who just moved to the area. It took at least 30 minutes to receive drinks and 1 1/2 hours to receive our food, which was NOT worth the wait. The place was not busy, so that wasn't an excuse. Waiters brought orders that belonged to someone else. We were extremely disappointed. The whole experience was just lousy.... More

I really had a hard time determining the overall rating for this restaurant. We have dined here on numerous occasions, and the quality has been all over the place. It can vary from being INCREDIBLE to INEDIBLE -- seriously! On most occasions, the food is quite good. But, when they're bad, they're REALLY bad!. Of my last two visits, the... More

Come for the patio, drinks and play area for the kids (I was warned to bring mosquito repellent for dinner) and low expectations for the food for the best experience! We came in for a late lunch and the outside patio and kids play area were awesome. Unfortunately, my family chose to eat inside (who knows, I'm not a fan... More

I really want this place to succeed. But my experience last Sunday did not bode well. Arrived early, even though we had reservations, as I was told the place was going to be crowded. There wasn't a soul in the reception area or restaurant, but the barkeep greeted us and was very genial. We ordered wine at the bar. My... More

We drove up to the Old 5-Mile House for a German Celebration with outdoor barbeques cooking up bratwurst and knockwurst and polish sausage and sauerkraut. Delicious!!! There was live German music and people "in costume." It was fun, there was plenty of parking available, and the wait staff was outstanding.

The Place has a nice Bar. When it gets to ordering a dinner ,the whole place lacks leadership. We has a Dinner Reservation . It does not bother me that they were busy, however I feel sorry for the wit staff. We had a Refreshing Drink and looked into the Kitchen. This was a mistake. The Kitchen Crew Lacked good... More

Great food! The food and atmosphere were great. We ate outside on the patio and were serenaded by two frogs. Suggest not eating here on or shortly after a long holiday weekend. Menu selections may be limited. Several items were not available. Service was congenial but not efficient. Our waitress forgot my cappuccino, and although it took a while to... More

My wife and I recently moved to Nevada City and were told by many new friends to try out The Old 5 Mile House. Their recommendations were correct. Great menu. Great service. And excellent live music!! An old roadhouse atmosphere with tons of personality. We love this place!
