I have been here many times and I love this place. Great atmosphere, small but arranged well. Rustic just like Nevada City. Service is great every time and food is always great. Love their breakfasts especially. My favorite meal of the day. This sounds like a little thing but I think it's really important..the tables have napkins on them, lots of... More

My husband and I occasionally stay at the National Hotel for a bit of an escape and, while I sleep in, he walks over to the Cafe for my breakfast in bed. ALWAYS fantastic. The prices are a bit high- but so is everything else in this small, tourist town. The man cooking is a CHEF! Fantastic, unique creations are... More

My life long search for the best biscuits and gravy ended here. You can't imagine how good it is. It's gourmet biscuits and gravy. Exactly the right proportions of biscuits and gravy. The staff is so friendly too. I wish I didn't live too far away to come back again soon.

We usually really enjoy our breakfasts at South Pine. They have a great, eclectic menu, which is a real joy compared to many other breakfast options. We particularly like the Lobster Eggs Benny (with jalapeno hollandaise - not really spicy so don't be put off), Huevos Rancheros, homemade muffins, and fresh squeezed OJ. We also really like the scrambles and... More

I've eaten at the Grass Valley location many times, but this was my first time in the little cafe on Pine. I love the cozy feeling of the place, and our waitress was charming and helpful. We each found favorite breakfast items that we'll probably go back for. And the coffee is always good at a South Pine. Now I... More

I've only been to this cafe twice, both times when an event was taking place in Nevada City. Both times the restaurant was packed and a waiting list for a table. Each time I felt they handled the customers well and got food to the tables in a timely manner. The food is good and plentiful. My companions all had... More

Went here with a group of 8 friends for brunch. Of the 8, five of us loved what we ordered, and three of us were disappointed. A few items (biscuits and gravy, eggs Benedict) tasted like a lot of liquid smoke flavor was added and it overwhelmed the rest of the dish. The Mexican style dishes were great.

The food was amazing! The sandwich was perfectly made and looked very good also. The service was excellent too. I'll be back for sure! .Went there for breakfast in a Sunday morning. I ordered a Monte Cristo, a grilled French toast sandwich with smoked ham, turkey and Swiss cheese, dusted with powdered sugar and served with honey mustard and a... More

My Most recent visit was a little more than ten years separated from my previous one, but the food is just as good. Friendly and moderately fast service.
