Throw back prime rib/ steakhouse

Cafe La Maze has been a favorite of my in-laws for decades. Since I joined the family 25 years ago, it has been mine as well. The atmosphere is a bit of a throw-back to the 60's steakhouse with a full bar, frequent live music/Karaoke and a cast of regulars. The prime rib (petite or regular cut) is... read more

I have gone here three times in two years for different nostalgic family events. Two of the three times the food was not was it should be. Twice I had prime rib and once I had a steak. I still love the décor with the old film stars and the old time velvet wallpaper and big red leather/vinyl booths. Unfortunately,... More

Food ,service and atmosphere. You can't beat Cafe LaMaze for a truly enjoyable dining experience. We were introduced to Cafe LaMaze in 1976 and have been there for lunch and dinner; small and large parties, and have never had a disappointing meal.

I went there on a Wednesday night and had the prime rib, it came out just the way I had ordered it (medium) was hot, had a nice side of aujus as well as very good vegetables, large portion of broccoli and carrots. I always opt for the french fries, they were hot and crispy. Martini at the bar was... More

I've been coming here for at least 30 years and it's one of my parents regular restaurants. They offer a Groupon which is a fantastic deal. The prime rib is always excellent and one of my all time favorites is their side salad w/real blue cheese. The décor is old school with several classic black & white photo's of old... More

Yes, La Maze is a step back in time. Since the 1930's La Maze has been serving prime rib, steaks, seafood etc. in a very traditional setting. They re-built it recently, but just like it was originally (more or less) It is a National City treasure. The service and servers are excellent. The prices are fair. There's usually entertainment, and... More

I would never never NEVER go back. The restaurant reminds me of a 1960’s red vinyl booths, and crushed velvet wall paper step back in time. The carpet could use a good cleaning but otherwise it was a dark ‘old dinner club’ feel. There was live music, a little loud, however all around kind of fun. The food was fairly... More

It's too bad it took me so long to discover this local favorite, It's a very established restaurant with the charm of a swanky dining room of the past. I am so pleased to finally have the pleasure of eating here. If you're looking for an old fashioned, hearty and classy meal, then this place is for you. I have... More

Nice menu, great service and really good food. A great variety on the menu, fresh salads to main course. I enjoyed it very much. Very good service, clean place. You feel like a customer and guest.
