We almost did not dine here for lunch as the place looked closed from outside - however, very glad that we did stop outside and check it out. We had been in the Oxbow Public Market, thinking we would have lunch there, but all the restaurants seemed too hoity-toity for us (we're not wine-experts, etc), so we crossed the street and checked out Filippi's. Immediately we were struck by the cozy atmosphere and welcoming environment. We ordered a medium vegetarian pizza, sans onions and a side order of... More

Filippi's has meatballs the size of softballs. They were so big, I was concerned they might not be cooked all the way through, but they were perfect. We had them as appetizers while we waited for our pizzas. We had a chicken pesto pizza and a special. Both were very good. Our waitress was very friendly and service was good.... More

Love this place! Right across from the Oxbow Market in Downtown Napa, right near the river, this is an awesome mom and pop type Italian restaurant. Great atmosphere puts you at ease and the mural in the bar is a gorgeous rendition of the Cinque Terre, lovely. Service has always been very friendly and accommodating. Food is awesome!! Meatballs are... More

Stopped in for dinner with family and were surprised by the crowd for an early evening. Lots of families with small children. Noticed everyone seemed to be ordering pizza but we made the mistake of trying Veal Scaloppini. Probably the worst I've ever eaten. Veal was thickly breaded and then covered with a greasy mushroom sauce of some kind. Came... More

Long wait for food once ordered. When we complained that people seated after us were getting their food long beforeus the server wasn't interested. When the food came it was not all served together. One order of the spaghetti with meat balls and sausage when it came the sausage was cold. The arrogant owner wasn't interested when I complained. I... More

Great family restaurant. Excellent "pardon me johnny" and pizza. Warm atmosphere. Near Oxbow and Farmers Market.

I'm going to preface this review with the fact that I do not usually eat at chains. Filippi's Pizza Grotto is been in business for over 50 years. Turns out, I had been to the original location, which opened in 1950, in San Diego many, many years ago but did not realize this was the same restaurant until we were... More

Apparently I should have got the pizza! Our friends got pizza, which was really good, but I got a salad and some garlic knots and they were just OK. The antipasto salad was supposed to have Italian dressing on it, but it had no taste (just seemed to be oil). The garlic knots were small knots are seemed to be... More

Nothing fancy, but hearty reasonably priced Italian food in an expensive area. Very friendly and good service. Good for families and large groups too.
