Located in the heart of downtown Napa's West End District, the Norman Rose Tavern is that comfortable spot where you can meet family and friends for a nice cocktail, pint or glass of wine paired with a great burger and fries or other classic, American comfort food. The menu takes a local, sustainable approach to time-honored dishes like fish & chips, fried chicken, chop salad, mac and cheese, and much more, all prepared utilizing the fresh, seasonal and quality ingredients found in the North Bay. The design offers a rustic pub feel with modern touches created by Kimberly Nunn and Dan Worden of Shopworks in Napa. The thoughtful beverage list sports a collection of cocktails, wines and beers that soar two or three levels above most, with many outstanding and well priced Napa Valley wines. The by-the-glass list is impressive as well with over twenty wines by the glass. An extensive spirits list featuring classic cocktails round out the offerings.

This has always been a good downtown place that's casual with good food and friendly waitstaff. The burgers are good, the salads are great, the fries are damned good and the larger plates (like the steak or the bangers n' mash) are always well above average. Norman Rose won't be your most memorable meal during your visit to Napa Valley,... More

A great staple on 1st Street in downtown Napa. The restaurant is somewhat casual with a great menu that balances pub fare with upscale dinning. The burgers and salads are great, but there is also hardier fare and daily specials. Prices are reasonable and service is very good. As a visitor to Napa, I have eaten at Norman Rose a... More

This place was good for a family dinner. We were hungry and indecisive and it had something for all. The fries were great. Started out with one as appetizer and then ordered two more with burgers. I had a tuna slider special and it was good. The burgers were very good per husband and daughter. A bit over priced as... More

Casual tavern right across from our hotel in Napa. Disco fries - fries with sausage, cheese and a fried egg. The egg was overdone, and wasn't runny at all. We asked them to redo the egg (which they did, without question). Very salty dish. Score: 3/5 Burger with bacon & cheddar. Average. Score: 2.5/5 Buttermilk fried chicken sandwich - messy... More

My husband and I ate at Norman Rose Tavern during a recent weekend stay in Napa. Since we were staying at a B&B nearby it was convenient to walk to the restaurant. We had a short wait (Friday evening). Overall food was good--we had meatloaf and fish & chips. The fries served with the fish were a disappointment-they tasted like... More

This is a bar/tavern located in downtown Napa. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her fried chicken sandwich and I had the best $ 7.50 hot dog I have ever eaten. Creative, eclectic menu and friendly, personable service.

Went there with for lunch. Shared spinach salad which was good and also shared Napa beer fish and chips. Two pcs of fish pretty good but batter a but salty and the fries were way too salty so we left most of that uneaten. Just expected better given it was quite pricey but prob normal for napa. Service was very... More

We stopped by Norman Rose during a family weekend in Napa. It is a very pretty restaurant with a welcoming staff. Enjoyed the lunch and would return if I were in the area.

It's been almost a year since we last visited Norman Rose. The food has improved, but the service still lacks. We ordered second drinks midway thru the meal and had to go to the bar to see where they were as we were almost finished. A single bartender for a busy restaurant just doesn't work. The last time we were... More
