Outstanding Oysters

This was our second visit to Hog Island, the first being four years ago. The oysters were cold, fresh and very good. If you like oysters this is a great place. I had a grilled cheese sandwich which was probably the best ever made from a mix of Cowgirl Creamery cheese, forage blanc and gruyere. My... read more

We were in the Oxbow market and wanted to try the fresh oysters, we're from Alaska so we know what fresh oysters can be. We ordered the sampler with 2 each of six different types. The server was knowledgable and friendly and explained each one. They were delicious and it was great trying so many types side by side. We... More

I ordered the oyster po'boy to go so that I could eat with the rest of my family in the oxbow market. It took so long to get my order and when it finally came it was a teeny tiny sandwich. Normally a po'boy is decent size on a long roll, but this was small on a McDonald's sized round... More

The service was friendly the beer & the oysters were awesome! The bread excellent and the dippin sauce was unique. We ate our fill and then wanted more! The wait-staff were on the spot and just the right amount of friendly! The atmosphere was fun and bustling, which made us feel like home! Would take and/or recommend to all of... More

The place was not what I expected. It is inside of an area where several other eateries are. They were working on the area outside and it was a terrible site. The waitress was short and snappy with us and could use some customer service training. The food is over priced. The experience was not as good as I expected.

I went to Hog Island based on TripAdvisor reviews looking for an oyster-focused restaurant. I had oysters Rockefeller and cabbage salad. All was very good. Don't expect a dining experience. It's essentially a boutique location in a large open-air market atmosphere along with lots of other eateries and specialty retailers. They do have a good selection of raw oysters, which... More

We did the rounds at oxbow market and decided to stop here. We had no idea this was a top 10 trip advisor restaurant. What can we say well... Stellar. We started with the hog island sweet water raw oysters. These are he best oysters I have had in California. The vinegar sauce on the side was a great addition.... More

I have been here several times with my wife. We always order a dozen of the Hog Island "sweet water" oysters raw. It comes on a platter of crushed ice and a cup of their famous "hog wash." It's a vinegar and cilantro based mignonette. Really good! The place gets crowded by noon on the weekends. We always sit a... More
