Perfect place for a big meal

Took the kids, who are working at a nearby boy scout camp, here for lunch. They were both really hungry and put down huge plates of food. Home deep-fried chicken in a sandwich, chicken- fried steak and eggs with a biscuit for the campers. I had a nice romaine salad with shaved tri-tip steak and... read more

This place was across the street from the hotel so we went in 5th of July morning. There was no line and since there were 10 of us we sat at 2 tables. Chairs are horribly uncomfortable. We ordered Bloody Marys $4.00 which is not a bad price until you realize it is watered down tomato juice with what is... More

Stopped by on my way out of the area, had a chili omelet, it was a tasty chili that they say is homemade. Toast & sliced tomatoes to finish the breakfast. If I'm back in Murphys I'll be here again. Service was prompt & efficient, food came quickly & well prepared. Only one piece of toast. but I'm sure I... More

We impulsively stopped for breakfast here on the way to Arnold CA. My husband raved about the bacon flavor most of the day. We think that we would like to head for the hills again next week. This time. We will leave Modesto with a breakfast planned at Hillbillies. The service was fast & tasty.

Great food and very accommodating staff. We were a large group for breakfast and they were very helpful in taking care of us even though we arrived at different times. The scramble in the bread bowl was terrific.

I went for breakfast and found the hash browns should have been crispier. Otherwise, the food was good. I did not like the strange art on the wall. There are three masses of plastic bottles and kitchen utensils painted each in red, white, or blue. This isn't hillbilly, it just looks trashy. The rest of the walls, with pallets and... More

We were here for a late breakfast on a Friday. The restaurant was about half-full and we were seated by the hostess right away. The waitress seemed a little stressed. I don't know why, but she wasn't happy. We ordered Meat Lover's Omelets. My wife ordered hers with egg whites, and wanted onions added to mine. We ordered sodas, and... More

For whatever reason, this place was recommended by the front desk staff where we were staying. The atmosphere was depressing, food mediocre at best, and the flies were the coup de gras!!

We came for lunch and were super impressed with the food. The portions were plentiful and the flavor was amazing. However I agree with the other comments about the service, it was just so so. The smiles ? felt perfunctory and not genuine. I had to ask for a refill on my water. We will probably come back but with... More

We've had breakfast at Hillbillies 3 times, and each time our meals were excellent! We hadn't eaten there prior to the makeover from the tv show Restaurant Impossible, so can't compare the before and after. But the before is water under the bridge, and after is simply delicious! We've tried different items on each visit and have had nothing but... More
