During our week long stay in Calaveras county, I will have to admit, this was the best place we had a lunch and a dinner during the week. Sad that we had to leave Angels Camp to find a decent dinner... We enjoyed our initial visit at lunch which consisted of the Mushroom and Artichoke Pizza plus a salad and... More

A group of us ate here in early May and everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was great as they even have a reserve beer list and the waiter was very knowledgeable. I had the "scalene", hope that is right, a combination of scallops and abalone. They were really tasty and 3 large pieces. They apps were great. All in... More

By reading the reviews we thought ok let's try this place. Well I'm not impressed. I had the pound of steamed mussells that came with french fries in the same skillet and made the fries soggy from the broth. The salad I had was very good and also the beer from Stone Brewery. I thought it was to noisy for... More

We got right in on a Thursday evening probably because it was before six o'clock. The bread is very good and fresh but our bread plates all had olive oil on them that could be seen, especially after running a finger across the plate. There were four of us and none of us are ones to complain but we did... More

The chef must think outside the box. Lots of menu choices all well prepared. If the staff knows and recommends the menu that's a good sign, especially when they're recommending with personal details about why they like something or locals do. At least one person at your table should try whatever the daily special is, and prepare to share. Alchemy... More

We've eaten at Alchemy several times and have always had very good to excellent food and service. Great for lunch or dinner. Usually there's music on Tuesday and Friday evenings.

Our friends living in Murphy made reservation for dinner at this restaurant when we were on a day trip to Sonora. The meal was absolutely delightful, service was fast and friendly. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. I can't forget my desert - the star made of puffy squares, cream and coulis. I would recommend this place for a serious... More

I had heard about Murphy's but hadn't made an effort to explore... we were so glad we went on a last minute day trip! We happened to park directly in front of Alchemy so we walked in for lunch and were seated immediately. The three hearts salad was excellent and paired really well with a spicy tomato soup. I chose... More

We enjoyed our dinner at Alchemy. It was not crowded at all when we where there towards the end of the dinner service on a Friday night. We shared the Three Hearts Caesar salad. I had the boneless 1/2 chicken and my partner the ribs. All were very good. Portions were large ... we had enough leftover for a picnic... More
