This is a great place for business lunch or dinner for 2-4 people. Firstly, the tables are spread out comfortably, and the ambiance is rather calm and upscale. Next, they have a great menu of unique Kyoto style specialty dishes. Food is delicious and lots of good sake selections. All add up to a fabulous, not your usual bustling Japanese... More

The yuba, skin tofu, is my preferred: this time was served mixed with sea urchin, just delicious. Also the grilled fish jaw: do not miss it. Anyway everything I tasted there is good. The monk... This place is really good, its quiet and good for dating. The food here is good enough but the serving is relative small, you probably need to order two or three dish per person.

This place serves many japanese dishes that can be found all over Japan, but not in most "Japanese" restaurants in the US, which mostly sell sushi. The dishes may not be haute cuisine, but the presentation is very good and the flavors brings back great memories. The atmosphere is very nice and rather romantic, though the service a bit forgetful.... More

Nami Nami is a Kyoto dinner place. They have unusual dishes - like Chinmi - that are meant to be eaten just a little bit while getting drunk. The staff doesn't speak a lot of english - almost no english - which is too bad because they have trouble explaining how the food should be eaten or enjoyed. They also... More

After all the reviews, I figured I was in for a treat. Nope sorry, have had better. I am half Japanese, been there (to Japan, Hawaii ++) & done that. I suppose I'd go back if I wanted Japanese food on Castro Street but I prefer other places to this one. I just wasn't overly impressed for the $$. And,... More

We had a the lunch special, but like other comments the price is a bit expensive. Although the food is very good. The kakuni was fantastic, that is the pork fat, wow it was like butter. It is rich so you have to eat it with rice, but well worth it. The service was a bit sparse, but it was... More

Small portion yet very delicate, nice interior decor, a little overpriced.
