They have moved to the southern end of Mt. View, away from Palo Alto. It is now more of a restaurant than a grocery store, booths and outside seating. Orders are now placed rather than walking through and pointing out what you want. The food was excellent as always, and we remarked how fresh the vegetables tasted. I hope they... More

For those who loved the old La Costena, you will not like the new one! For us, it used to very close to our home & is now some distance away. Then after driving the extra distance, we were sorely disappointed! You can't see the toppings choices - they are in the back. Plus my favorite - quesadilla with carne... More

Their burritos are incredible! It is no wonder why they were voted Best of Mountain View 2013 by the Voice. Note, they have moved to a new location. La Costena is now at 235 East Middlefield Road (cross street Whisman Road), Mountain View, CA 94043. New telephone (650) 967-0507. They now have a new look that has greatly improved over... More

I think La Costena has slipped some. We started taking out burritos around 2000 and they were super consistent and an excellent value. Well, prices are up, and either the quality has slipped or the competition has stepped it up - either way, the value equation doesn't work as well as it used to. Had the Carne Asada Super Burrito... This is the first taqueria I had been to - 30 years ago and its still my favorite. Go in the grocery store entrance and head to the back

La Costena is a small grocery store with half-empty shelves and no outward sign that it serves incredible burritos, one of the best and tastiest take-out food values to be found in the area. In a back room, there's a long counter with a huge variety of ingredients and condiments that can be wrapped in your choice of whole-wheat or... More

We have been using La Costena as a stop gap option when I don't want to cook and we just want 'take out'. Their burritos are big, well seasoned, great choices of meat (pastor or carne asada are great, but so are the chile colorado and stewed meats). They are good, decently priced (though prices have been creeping up over... More

I can't say that I have been to every burrito bar in the bay area, not even close. But what I can say is they make the best burritos of the places I have tried (15-20). It is all good.

It's not a restaurant, it's a steamy little counter in the back of a funky little Mexican market, and one with such a scanty product line that you wonder how they could stay open, and then you order your burrito out of that awesome ingredients list and watch them put it together, and you understand. Oh my god, what burritos... More
