We visit the South Bay every year when a friend comes to town and we always stop at Maru Ichi. The ramen is excellent - I usually stick with the shoyu and my friends either have the kuro or miso. Always good - especially after a long day of traveling. Amazing value with the combo's (we always get Combo B).... More

I was hesitant at first but the wife and kid wanted to try it. I'm glad they did. The service was friendly, the place was clean and the food was good. My kid and wife didn't like the seaweed but that may have just been them. Everything else was great. I will go there again the next time I'm in... More

We've tried many Ramen places in South bay and this is our final choice. We don't go anywhere else after we tried Maru Ichi. My favorite is kuro ramen. The soup base is like heaven. If you have a big appetite, you can order the ramen combo. You can choose from different ramens plus a rice plate or Sushi and... More

This is my second visit, the previous two years ago. On the left of the entrance is the noodle machine, you can watch the noodles made behind the glass wall. I had the combo including tonkatsu ramen, pot stickers, and california roll. Soup was hot with flavorful broth, pot stickers were tasty. Service was fast, and although the server was... More

My wife and I have been to various noodle soup restaurants in South bay and this one is the best. All the other noodle soups make you thirsty right after the meal, which suggests that they are adding MSG to make the flavor better, but less healthy. The noodle soups in Maru Ichi is much better in this sense and... More

Found this place in an article from Sunset Magazine and thought we'd try it out. The place was clean, impressed that they make their own noodles, and had pots of kimchee on all the tables. I had the Kuro Ramen for $7.98 and couldn't eat it all. Tasty, but I have to say that I prefer Pho broth over the... More

Not the best Ramen place but at the same time not too disappointing. Just another Japanese ramen place with quite a lot of different selections. We arrived at Mountain View late and just wanted to go to a place that can serve food fast. Surprisingly crowded on a weekday night after 8pm. Locals must like this place a lot.

I was not impressed by this restaurant. The only positive thing I can say is that portions are very large. I got the ramen and curry combination and the portion of the curry alone was enough for a meal. Unfortunately, the curry did not taste like the roux was made on site. It tasted more like the box variety. The... More

Maru Ichi got off to a rocky start when they first opened, I thought, but the degree to which things have improved since then is really remarkable. Ryowa's loss has been Maru Ichi's gain, it seems, and then some. The signature kuro ramen — "black ramen", a tonkotsu broth with black, garlic-infused oil — is terrific, and you won't find... More

There are four ramen-only places in Mountain View. This place is OK - VERY authentic - but Ryowa is so much better than I've only been here twice to make sure I like Ryowa better. The broth here isn't really deep enough and one always wonders if this particular batch of ramen is house made - almost like they randomly... More
