Great local burger joint

I lived in Mountain View for 7+ years so will finally write some reviews for our go to spots. The food here is pretty solid. Lots of choices on what to put on your burger (they also have a fixin's bar). The sweet potato fries are great as well. If you want a solid burger and don't want to hit... read more

Charcoal broiled (really), not fried, the burgers R to die for … all condiments are DYI. And there's plenty of other choices.

My wife and I visit this place about every couple of months because the hamburgers are made to order and taste great. We also like the sweet potato fries. There is lack of dining room space. Sometimes is it crowed and you have to share tables with people you don't know. This can be a negative or a positive experience.... More

This old fashioned burger shack has been doing it right for 70 years now (since 1945). Very gracious staff even though we arrived 15 minutes before closing on a Thursday night. Patient to take our orders even though one in our party was Slooow to decide. We all loved our burgers! Yummy, old school, & grilled to perfection with fresh... More

This place used to be fantastic, but in the past couple of visits the burgers seem to be getting smaller and smaller. Though the prices are quite high. I don't mind paying for an excellent burger, but this just isn't getting it done. Definitely no longer my go to hamburger spot.

Great burgers and plenty of add-ons to make this a more than full meal. Founded in 1945, frequented by me since 1965, friends and relatives always request that we eat at Clarke's. My favorite hangout in Mt View. Staff is very helpful, price is right and the burgers are so good.

I'd heard excellent things from so many people about this 70(?) year old burger joint. It definitely had a good feel to it. Prices were a bit steeper than I'd figured ($11-13 for a la carte), with a side of fries and one malt and we were already well over $50. 25 minutes later our food arrived. Bland, even with... More

We came here after spending a day waiting for my dad to come out of surgery at the hospital around the corner. We were hungry and drove here to get a quick burger. So glad we came here instead of in and out. It is a cool old restaurant that looks like it hasn't been updated in a while. It... More

Clarkes is a Mountain View tradition. Flame broiled hamburgers served up any way you want them, including Veggie patty, turkey patty or traditional all beef. French fries and oh-so-delicious milk shakes will definitely blow your calorie budget, but at least you won't care. One bite of that juicy mouth-watering hamburger and you can close your eyes in tastebud heaven. Try... More
