This small grill has served several generations- I've been going for over 60 years! It is a landmark on the peninsula... Great charcoal grilled burgers, wonderful condiment bar lets you build it your way, friendly service and a fair price. Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy a locally owned/ non-chain gem.

When I travel to new places I try to find places that the locals go to and aren't chains that I could experience at home. I found Clarke's while looking at Google Maps and it had lots of good reviews and seemed to be a favorite of the locals. It wasn't too far from my hotel and so decided to... More

Clarke's is from another time. You won't find $13 burgers like at Umami Burger, you won't find Hand Formed Artisinal Beef you will find a big pile of charcoal and some pretty tasty burgers. The meat is kind of thin, but the whole experience hangs together, especially if you come with a group and sit outside on a nice day.... More

Clarke's was exactly as billed - nothing fancy, but outstanding hamburgers and a pleasant, casual atmosphere. We were looking for a simple, quick dinner out and Clarke's met our goal. There are plenty of other choices on the menu, but burgers grilled over a charcoal fire are the centerpiece. They have plenty of "fixins" for people who like to pile... More

Been coming here for years. Moved out of the area but always come here when I'm in town. this is not your burger on a grill type place. real charcoal grilled burgers. Fresh ingredients, excellent condiment station for all the fixings. Great fries and outstanding shakes. I always go for a burger so I can't comment on the rest of... More

I consider Clarke's and Kirk's the best burger joints in the greater south Bay. I give Clarke's the edge on sentimentality if nothing else. Not cheap but worth saving your pennies for. One of the finer splurges in the casual dining universe.

This place has been around for a while, and man, what a good burger/chicken sandwich they make. I think it is the sauce. Throw in a milkshake, and oh boy! I don't get up here anymore now that changed jobs, and sure miss this place. I'll have to make it back again soon.

We come here as a treat after softball games or practice. The joint is unpretentious, the burgers are great, the staff kind.

Tucked among the fast food burger joints on the El Camino Real in Mt View, CA is Clarke's Charcoal Broiler. It's a homey place with a friendly staff. The burgers have a great smokey barbeque taste. I had the SF Burger.... sourdough bun with Swiss on top and bottom. You add your own condiments. It's a great burger! Lean. not... More
