This Italian restaurant is probably a nice place to take a date. It's a bit expensive and nice for a business dinner, which is how I have been there before. On the modern/fancy as opposed to rustic/family side in terms of how it feels to be in there. Location is great, right next to the Mountain View train station.

Ate here three times during a recent out of town work assignment. The owners were not only personable and attentive, they even sing to patrons on week ends. My food was good (avocado salad and halibut with mushroom sauce) and reasonably priced. I'll be back next time I'm in Mountain View.

I was brought here by colleagues for a business dinner. It was absolutely packed on a Tuesday night - and I have no idea why. The wine list was respectable, but ridiculously over-priced ($80 for a very low-end wine; mid-range is $80-$150; respectable wines start at $150 a bottle). The avocado salad was delightful and the highlight of the dinner.... More

My husband and I had an early dinner here on a Saturday night. It was filling up fast, so I would recommend reservations. We happened to get a small almost-corner table, so we were able to hear each other, but more than four would probably fine conversation difficult. I had a classic penne with chicken and artichokes, which was good,... More

Visited with a nearby resident who has been coming here for years. Came in for a drink with a reservation elsewhere and maybe visit another time but decided to stay for dinner. Salads and entrees were excellent along with service, including two visits by the owner to inquire if everything was satisfactory and thank us for eating at their establishment.... More

We went with 6 people to celebrate my son's 17th birthday. The bread/herbed olive oil they brought out as we ordered was a tasty beginning. We all ordered a salad or an appetizer, with two pairs opting to share salads (sharing incurred a $1.50 split fee). Our main courses were coq au vin (two ordered this), a seafood risotto special,... Vaso Azzuro is the best restaurant in Mountain View. You can easily miss this place as this is far at the end of Castro but once you are there, you will not regret at all. I have been to Vaso twice and had a great experience. Delicious Italian food and great music. Liked how they come to your table n... More

The food was delicious and the service was friendly, attentive and fun. The owner, who visited us twice to make sure everything was okay, and her son and daughter were wonderful. I had bruschetta (simple and excellent); house salad (excellent dressing with a dijon tang); chicken picatta and penna with tomato pink sauce (my special request instead of veal -... More

This place isn't cheap and by the look of the restaurant, its location, its menu, and the Italian mom owners (I imagine) who come out and ask you how your food is, you'd think you'd be set for some great Italian home cooking. I ordered the Sausage Rissoto. It was one of the two Rissotos on the about half dozen... More

I went back and forth over whether to give 4 or 5 stars - this is not a high-end gourmet restaurant but more of a family one. I settled on 5 because all of the components were there at a fair price. This restaurant is quite lively and noisy, but it has the atmosphere of a local italian restaurant. The... More
