Nice albeit loud ambience but interesting for a foodie!

Large restaurant, ample outside seating, huge windows with upscale window coverings. Tapas, South American, Cuban and Spanish flair food. Interesting combos. The place is very loud. I used to love Cascal, but on last two visits, service was not great with indifferent servers and food seemed smaller portions and not as well-prepared. Hope they were just off days. Too many other great places within a few blocks to waste hard earned cash here.

The menu has a large variety of different tapas and paella dishes. We had the mushrooms, corn, lamb chops, grilled garlic shrimp and a small mixed combination paella dish. It was a good amount of food for the 3 of us. The wait staff were very efficient. Niceneg reminder of Spain in downtown Mountain View.

We go to Cascal for our special occasions. I always ask for patio 'cause I wear hearing aids (I'm not that old, but I was told 'Use it or Lose it'). Inside is loud, great if you're into the bar scene. Open Table doesn't seem to communicate that request.

We have been going to this restaurant since it opened. The name of the restaurant from talking to the owner comes not from a South American name but from the two streets that it is on. Castro and California. Hence the name Cascals. From the moment you step inside you will see the fun bar and the ambiance of the... More

The spanish tapas platter is a must. We get this each time we dine at Cascal and we easily share it. The pitchers of sangria go well with anything on the menu. Outdoor seating and heating lamps help if there is a cool breeze. Or sit inside. It's up to you and what is available. There can be a wait... More

Very nice ambiance, though can get very noisy. The food is good, but very expensive. I ordered Scallops with mushrooms and pablano peppers and for ~$12 got a small plate what I expected.

My wife and I and another couple dined at Cascal in Mountain View before seeing a play. The restaurant serves tapas foods in a large nicely decorated room with an outdoor patio. Although it was a Thursday night, the place was packed and noisy as it has a large bar. Whether drinking or dining, the patrons seemed very happy. While... More

We fly into San Jose Airport, and call Cascal's to pick up the Paella on our way to the hotel. We eat it that night, and again for breakfast. It is filling, tasty, and just what is needed after a long flight. The restaurant is open until 10 pm, which makes it possible. If you get a chance to try... More
