My family arrived just after opening and found that the restaurant was full and there was already a line. Worth the wait! I rediscovered my love of plum wine and several family members discovered their love of eel (the special). Generous portions at reasonable prices. Plenty of non sushi choices, too. The seating is crowded, but not uncomfortable. Do arrive... More

Hands down, one of the best sushi places I've ever been to. Fresh sashimi, large selection of appetizers (small shared plates similar to tapas), decent amount of rolls. But really, who goes here for rolls?!? This is the premiere sashimi place south of SF. Be prepared to pay for what you get though, it's not particularly cheap. Service is ok,... More

Best sushi in Mountain View for sure! Very traditional and fresh, really fresh. The hamachi melted in my mouth and the rice was perfectly seasoned. They overdid the size with one of the special rolls with shrimp tempura inside, just ridiculously big, never seen that (not even in Japan), was definitely not a bite size. On the low side: edamame... This has a long wait time, but it is every bit worth it. The sushi is so fresh and tasty. Their udon is also worth trying.

Summary: Incompetent service, mediocre sushi. When our (excellent) local sushi place in Los Altos had a problem with their delivery, we (sadly) turned to this place as an alternative using DoorDash. Unfortunately Sushi Tomi messed up our order and--get this--wouldn't even admit their fault and essentially implied that we were trying to rip THEM off. In the end they charged... More

If you don't mind standing in line and relatively steep prices, the sashimi at Mountain View's Sushi Tomi is as fresh as it gets. Beautifully presented as you might expect. There is a tempting array of appetizers (such as the tiny grilled baby octopus) and some excellent cooked items, The menu is mostly in the spectrum of familiar Japanese dishes,... More

We waited almost an hour for a table, something we rarely do. We were with friends who raved about the place so we feigned patience. Once seated, the staff were friendly. Service was attentive. The sushi combos were filling. The sushi was decent but over-hyped by our friends. We were told to expect amazing. We weren't disappointed with the sushi,... More

I'm Japanese American and tend to be disappointed in the quality of Japanese food these days in "typical" restaurants. The difference at Sushi Tomi is the quality of the fish being used. I had a simple tonkatsu and sashimi dinner and my wife, the sushi combination. The quality of the fish on both was superior to that in most south... More

I've looked for a great sushi place for a long time. This delivers. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait at the door (no reservations)... But it's worth the 20-30min. Once you're in, it's an abundance of choices for you to enjoy. At risk of sounding American... But please try the deep fried sushi rolls- to die for. Overall... More

My son and I had visited Sushi Tomi several times the last few months and really enjoyed both the services and the sushi. You can order your standard sushi to prepare for the premium fishes afterward. The best part about Tomi is that they have a list of fresh fishes that are not always on the standard sushi menu; this... More
