Great California fare at a steep price

I've visited Scratch several times - for family eating and for business. The food is inspired American fare, California style, and is quite good. I've tried a few of the entrees - meatloaf, salmon, scallops and fillet - and found them quite enjoyable. In terms of style and decor, it is trendy... read more

Four of us had dinner at Scratch recently and we all enjoyed the experience. Service was attentive and at a good pace, wine list was respectable and we all enjoyed our entrees. I particularly enjoyed my pan seared salmon filet with corn succotash and dill cream custard. If you're browsing the menu and can't decide, give this one a go!

Great food and service in this innovative restaurant. The name says it all. Ingredients are locally sourced and food is made from scratch, unlike many of the chain restaurants. Servers are very knowledgeable about ingredients and even drink recipes. Nice wine and beer selections. Give Scratch a try and it will be one of your favs too.

Brought my husband here for his birthday in November. Made reservations. We live in Mountain View and are always having dinner on Castro Street. Never thought to go to Scratch. We were impressed. The service was top-notch. The atmosphere romantic. Quiet even though the restaurant was busy. The Scratch Fried Chicken was incredible. I couldn't stop talking about how amazing... More

This is a fine looking restaurant with good staff and good food. Modern look and feel. Great open-feel bar. Community table. Booth and table dining. Staff is well-dresed and trained. We were there for brunch and saw a new waiter shadowing and being trained. Wait staff dresses well to match the ambiance. We sat at the bar and enjoyed interacting... More

We love the atmosphere here, the easy way that we are treated, and the amazing comfort food! We tend to bring friends so that we can chat with dinner and some great wines. Good wine list, wonderful recipes, the chicken must be tasted!

For the large number of restaurants in downtown Mountain View, there not a lot of places serving more traditional U.S. lunch fare such as a Cobb Salad or Club Sandwich. Scratch is where I head when I want that kind of lunch within walking distance. It's not spectacular, but it's good. They also offer a pretty good lobster roll, and... More

This restaurant is in the middle of the old part of Mountain View on Castro St. A great location. The restaurant was recommended by a colleague from the area, and she was spot on. We went to dinner relatively early. Reservations are mandatory. The wine list was extensive and bottles reasonably priced. The bar area is very nice and the... More
