Wow; we have not been to Scratch for a couple of years and were left wondering 'what the heck?' We went for happy hour and sat at the bar. I want to compliment the very nice bartender, she was great. That is where my compliments end. We ordered the sliders and mussels. The sliders: the onion rings were pretty good.... More

It's full of techies and lawyers from across the street, but don't be put off by that. It's worth a visit, or several. Scratch feels clean, new and modern when you enter and somehow manages not to feel too formulaic, despite being similar to many new places in many ways. The staff is intelligent and attentive and seems to know... More

This is a nice option if you are eating downtown Mountain View. I've been here three times and have not been disappointed yet. There is a good mix of seafood and meat dishes. Prices are moderately high and you definitely want to have reservations.

Food is consistently very good to excellent, seafood is done very nicely. Lamb chop was off the hook, perfectly done and well seasoned. Cocktails and beer selection was excellent. Fresh oysters were superb, could go back just for the oyster bar. Service was quick, very attentive and knowledgeable about Gluten allergy issues. Reservations recommended, they get busy. Bar/reception is a... More

First off, you better have reservations or the inept seating staff will just point you to the bar. Four of us had dinner here and none of us thought it to be anything worth having again. Bacon Cheddar Biscuits $5 and Chorizo stuffed dates $9.00 were the only highlight of the meal. Was hoping for more from the Meatloaf $19... More

The food just isn't that great. Nice artisanal cocktail. Very windy at the bar. Interior is nice for mountain view in a modern sort of way.

We had a team dinner there last week and we all remarked how good the service, starters and mains were. 3 of us are carnivores and our 4th not, but there was a good selection for all on the night! You get HUGE portions for the price, quite a nice wine selection, would definitely go there again w/o question! I... More

We didn't quite understand the meaning of the name of the restaurant. We figured it out when my husband tried to order a single malt scotch before dinner. They don't serve scotch because they only serve what they make from "scratch". They do serve bottles of wine so we went with the wine. I ordered surf and turf but when... More

Brilliant atmosphere, with an interesting menu, especially when compared to the bland options found in many american restaurants. Unfortunately, the execution was less than satisfactory, with one of the dishes ordered overly salted to an intolerable degree. In short, lots of potential, but the execution must be more careful to justify the price.

We have been to this restaurant a number of times in the past few years. the service has been good to very good, but the food and the wait time from ordering to serving is outrageous. We dined here on Saturday 11/23/13 at 6:30 with reservations for 7 people. We had immediate seating and our order was promptly taken with... More
