For big eaters

This is the original Black Bear. Like them all, the servings are MASSIVE. There are about a 100 things on the menu that you will want to try, assuming that you put health concerns aside. (They do now have some healthier choices, but if that is your primary concern, this is probably not the place... read more

Visiting old friends, we stopped by to eat after a long jeep ride exploring and geocaching....looking for lemurians...but no luck. The food was not bad, I had a burger platter. The service was good and friendly.

A co-worker and I showed up at that awkward time between breakfast and dinner and we went for both ends of the spectrum. He had French Toast and I wanted ribs, any kind of ribs! The waitress handled it. The French Toast was fabulous and the ribs were so so. But to be fair about this, the ribs were on... More

While driving through Mt. Shasta at 5pm Sunday I couldn't find anything open and I was Hungry. I stumbled on Black Bear Diner and remembered that this is the original Black Bear. All I can say is you get a lot of food for the money. I have been to many Black Bear Diners and have never had a bad... More

Have been to many Black Bears and this one didn't meet the standard. Had 3 different waitresses for dinner and none got the simple order correct. Was hot and uncomfortable - meal was mediocre.

I've had a million different things here... Turkey, burgers, breakfast...all yummy. Portions are huge. Very long wait and so busy it's kinda dirty. Love the fries! Love the pie.

I didn't like the food. It just didn't taste good to me, not a good flavor, and the salad tasted like 'refrigerator" The wait staff is very friendly. And it's value priced.

We make it a priority to come here when in the area. We have always been satisfied every time we visit. Wife had the chicken pot pie and I had the cheeseburger salad. So good!

We make a trip to climb Mt. Shasta almost every year. The night before we set out we like a big, hearty meal. Something that is going to fill you up and give you plenty of juice for the next day. We always hit the Black Bear Diner. Their portions are great, selection is huge, food tastes fantastic and the... More

We always stop in this fun restaurant with friends to either have lunch together after church, or just enjoy one of their fabulous, home-made cobbles a l mode! The decor is orginal and suits the mountain-theme. We love their menu-vintage newspaper! But the food portions are Papa Bear size, unless you order Senior. Come hungry as a bear!!
