Large portions are the key selling point here. The beef pot roast was tasty, though a bit salty. We shared a full portion...next time share a senior portion! Food is very decent and very comforting, but please don't expect gourmet cooking. We will continue to stop here on the way to Oregon, but know the limitations.

We had later breakfast that was very good. The potatoes are different and yummy. I had a veggie burger that was tasty and the sauces added a nice flavor 1000 island and a spicy sauce.

The number of articles of the salad is abundant and is very satisfied. The steak is cheap deliciously, too and becomes full.

We have a local Black Bear Diner in AZ so we thought it would be interesting to stop at the original in Mt Shasta. We wish we hadn't. It's filthy and dirty and flies were everywhere including the dead ones on the windowsill. The windows and booth glass hadn't been cleaned in weeks. If the flagship store is that disgusting... More

They give you a lot of food and it was a good price. Pretty standard diner fare though. We went on all you can eat fish Friday. Service was prompt and polite. The food is not bad, just maybe not as great as they seem to think. The sugar and condiments have custom Black Bear Cafe branding.

I had not been to the Bear in months - due to its crappy food - however I dropped in 2 weeks ago and enjoyed a good sandwich. So, I had a to-go order brought to me 2 days ago. It was the Classic Cheese Burger in a Basket. It was wonderful! Large firm Chibata bun, thick hamburger patty cooked... More

We have been to a few of this chain and have really enjoyed it, until this one. We knew it wasn't going to go well when we saw how dirty the entrance was. I used the restroom before ordering and it was a mess. The food was ok, but the lack of service is what would keep yes from returning.... More

The Diner is easy to get to off the interstate highway. The coffe is ok but on the weak side. This is a place, like others in the chain for food that is ok and has more variety than most fast food places. The bear decor is cute. The place serves a niche of consistantlly ok food while traveling. The... More

BIG portions, open late and let me tell you in Mt. Shasta many restaurants close by 9 !! You can't go wrong with Black Bear Diner. This one touts that it's the original. Staff is friendly and when it's not too busy (I personally have never seen it not busy) pretty darn quick with bringing food out. Breakfast is our... More

Ate here for lunch on July 30. Good food, good service!! Clean place, liked the art work on the stools at the counter.
