Great Service, Average Food

We had seen Black Bear Diners in other cities, but had never stopped at one. Turns out, this is the original, or at least in the town where the chain started. We both ordered one of the specialty burgers ($9.99 ea). The meat actually tasted OK, although seriously overcooked. If the cook only... read more

We've been to Black Bear Diners and have found them to be inconsistent. This was one of the better ones. The décor was the typical bear kitsch (we would later see a real bear). We were seated quickly and would have been served quickly too, but we wanted to linger over the huge menu. A friend and I ordered chicken... More

Stopped here for Dinner, The Menu's were made to look like old gazette news papers. It was very busy and had to wait for seating but not long. They have an excellent selection of food and prices are resonable. The food was delicious. I will deffinately be going here again.

This is the original, and in my opinion best Black Bear diner. Food was great, restaurant was very clean, attentive waitress. You can choose breakfast, lunch or dinner any time. Best of all, they have a great child menu and reasonably priced.

My daughter & I stopped off her on our way home from Chico for dinner. We shared a dinner since the portions here are huge. The meal was great as usual. The service was quick and friendly.

It's about your average diner...Denny's style. Do not, I repeat DO NOT order the apple crumb desert. Yuck! Pancakes are a pretty safe bet though.

People are nice, food is what you would expect but very slow. However, the restaurant needs a through cleaning. It was a fly festival because every surface was grimy and in need of a scrub. Could be so much better. We eat a Black Bear restaurants in other cities and this one is neglected.

We ordered breakfast of Ham and eggs and sausage and eggs , the usual and got in the car with a metallic taste in our mouth! I have no idea what could of done that, possibly bad oil, but we didn't get sick. We chewed gum and brushed our teeth as soon as we could get to a place to... More

Every time we take a trip north we stop at this Black Bear diner. We recently had the chicken fried steak for breakfast. It is an extremely large portion so my mom and I split it. They actually split the plate for us before they brought it out and we weren't charged anything extra. Great service and always a friendly... More

This is the original Black Bear. Like them all, the servings are MASSIVE. There are about a 100 things on the menu that you will want to try, assuming that you put health concerns aside. (They do now have some healthier choices, but if that is your primary concern, this is probably not the place for you.) The food is... More
