An Interesting experience...

I have heard about Phil's for years from friends who drive over to the coast for the cioppino. I had a mixed prawn and scallop combo, which was disappointing. My wife had fish and cips that she really enjoed. It's very casual. You order from the counter and sit in a fish market environment. I... read more

Phil's has a varied menu with good prices. Very casual and they've added outdoor eating with a view of the harbor entrance so you can whale watch while you eat. The fish market is great too. Take home the frozen cioppino. Only downside is the limited parking and crowds. No reservations so the wait can be long.

Stood in line at noon on a Saturday but the line went fast. gave us time to figure out what we wanted. Ordered the Ciopino for two and it was enough for 3 or more! HUGE bowl filled with flavor, bread and 2 salads. staff very friendly. Excellent! Sat outside ( be careful of the sea gulls who want a... More

We were taken to Phil's by family that live in the area. We ordered Halibut and chips, Cod and chips and Calamari and chips. The halibut was by far the winner. The atmosphere is awesome being right on the beach (even though you can't really see the beach unless you sit outside on a picnic table near the beach) it... More

Walk in, place order at counter, find place to sit. Place is a little dungy. They bring food to you. You need to get your own drink and silverware. Food was good, at a decent price. Prawn cocktail had plenty to eat as a meal, if not overly hungry. One in our group of 10 people had a large bowl... More

Excellent blackened scallops and meat, eaten outside at a table with an incredible view of the beach and Pacific Ocean.

If you are wanting fresh seafood and a pleasant alternative to the restaurants found along Fishermans Wharf and Cannery Row in Monterey, Phil's is the place to go. Do not let the "Place Your Order Here" and casual dining setting fool you. The food preparation is as good as you will find in any upscale restaurant. Bring a big appetite... More

This restaurant is always busy. One Saturday it was packed and we didn't want to wait in line. Last Sunday it wasn't that bad and we were able to find a table. We ordered the Cioppino family style for three of us. Seafood was fresh and the gravy the seafood was cooked in was also tasty. Price was on the... More

If you're looking for great seafood this is definitely the place. Everything we had was very good. The format of ordering and then trying to find a table (which are very much like picnic tables) leaves a lot to be desired. Pushing your way through the crowd to get your bar drinks and your soft drinks and your order placed... More
