Loved watching the sunset at Moss Beach Distillery

After walking along the beach and afternoon shopping, enjoyed dinner and watching the sun set over the water at Moss Beach Distillery. The best surprise, the story of the "Blue Lady". Check it out! Nothing strange happened, but we sat at the bar and had a full window view of the water. Service... read more

On a sunny, warm Sunday in February, with clear views of the Pacific from their patio/deck, my wife and I enjoyed two beers (standard micro-brews, Blue Moon White, Lagunitas IPA, served in large plastic cups from a tap). clam chowder, and calamari. That was about $42 for essentially an appetizer and a cup of soup with a beer, for two--a... More

This wasn't planned. We just happened to be driving around Half Moon Bay and decided to stop somewhere for dinner. My partner had been here 20+ years ago, so we parked in the parking lot, went for a 4 mile walk along the cliffs and then had dinner. The food was OK, not great, not bad, but pretty decent. But,... We ate at this restaurant often in the past while on the coast, but a few years ago the food became very average (and still is) and the newer emphasis on ghosts, etc., rather than enhancing its appeal was viewed by us as a tawdry appeal to sensationalism. Maybe the owners know they are not providing the best meals?

Taking a weekend day trip around the bay area. First stop, Moss Beach; bit overcast but great day for a day trip. Stopped at the Moss Beach Dist Restaurant for a lunch. Food, reasonably good. The whole time we were here, the waitress cane by to take order, deliver food, then, to take a check. My drink cup was empty,... More

This friendly neighborhood restaurant off the beaten path offers sunset, water views and the best clam chowder this side of New England. The spoon sits on top of the cream enriched, bountiful bowl of chowder. All the seafood offerings our party tried tasted fresh and satisfying. For your further delectation, this weathered bar and restaurant by the sea boasts a... More

We spent Christmas day here, just my wife and I. There is a patio with a spectacular ocean view complete with fire pits, loves seats and warm blankets. Clam chowder and drinks are great to have out side. The bar is complete and the drinks are good. Upstairs is a very good restaurant with a refined but approachable menu. There... More

We visited family in the area and enjoyed lunch at the Distillery while we were on the coast! We tried an order of the artichoke fritters; they were very good! Piping hot when they were served and accompanied by ranch dressing. Several in our group enjoyed bowls of the clam chowder which was very hearty! My husband tried the fish... More

Let me start by saying that the view makes up for a lot. It's beautiful. If I had it to do over, I'd just order drinks and eat elsewhere. As it was, we had six people who ordered appetizers and shared. We had oysters, calamari, shrimp, salmon carpaccio. All the fish was fresh and tasty. We also ordered bread, which... More

This place is very popular, and you can see why. It's right by the ocean, and you can sit by a fire pit with blankets and eat food there, however it's really tricky to get a seat there. Instead, we were there for dinner by the window upstairs in the building. The service was great, and the food was yummy.... More
