Went with my son (a chef). Only wine by the glass as mgr left with key. Rack of lamb poorly cooked, by staff. Ribs separated and cooked separately, not allowing for medium rare order when properly grill roasted-then divided. Must have been a sale on basalmic vinegar as it was sloshed over everything on both plates-sloppy presentation. Third rate staff... More

I'm going to give some slack on my rating, since our recent dinner here was on New Years' Eve with a group of 8. Having come for the food and not the celebration, we expected that it would be noisy. For this particular evening, the menu offered a fixed price dinner at either $39., $49. or $59. which included 3... More

After reading the reviews about the slow and poor service, I was a little apprehensive, but we had a groupon voucher and it was about to expire. Dillon (or Dylan) was our waiter. I felt so bad for him. He was the only server and the place was filled. He was so apologetic to every table. We waited 20 minutes... More

Perfectly fine if you give them some slack for a crowded holiday weekend and that this isn't Italy. Crusty bread pieces, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and lightly cooked whole garlic was much better than the usual bread and butter you get elsewhere. Caesar salad large and excellent. Wine by the glass selection also excellent. Main course weren't subtle but this... More

The butternut squash is above average with the walnut and a tad sweet, eggplant Parmesan was too thick and too much basil but the sauce was very good.

On a recent trip to Morro Bay we stopped at Giancarlo's for dinner on a Thursday night....The restaurant was almost empty, but we chose to eat at the counter...We enjoy the interaction between the cooking staff and also viewing the cooking process in the open kitchen.... Counter to recent reviews we found the food, service, and drinks to be outstanding,... More

No need to visit the Embarcadero. Visit Giancalo's for really great food. All 3 of us greatly enjoyed our appetizers, entrees, and the desserts. Just what we needed after a day of scarecrows (Cambria event). Everything was picture perfect, and a treat to our taste buds. I don't usually review restaurants but this Gem deserves it.

Our server quickly introduced herself as the owners wife but in a snotty sort of fashion. She forgot our drink order and our appetizer hit the table before our cocktails did. We prefer to take our time when we dine out, she was not too pleased with this fact and kept pushing us to order our food even though we... More

Giancarlo was my favorite restaurant in Morro Bay. Something has changed. Don't know what. Experience was not as satisfying as it used to be. I don't know what else to say other than it was somewhat disappointing.

For a couple years we came here literally two or three times a week. Then we noticed the service quality start to decline, and we came less and less. For the last year or two we've only come about once every three months, and after tonight it might be even less frequently - if ever. For starters they used to... More
